I like your 8 words or less poem. I like that you made the word "what" smaller as if it were in the distance approaching. It all works. However, I don't get how the abstract visual fits such a concrete thought. For me it doesn't go with your defined message. Good luck in the contest if it is not over.

I'm not sure I understand this verse.
I appreciate the artwork as it looks to tell the story of you being taken over or trampled in some way.
I am just not sure what your intention is.
Are you saying that you not a strong person to handle adversity?
I feel badly that I don't understand.

I can understand, and you have expressed your sense of fear and avoidance of coming realities very well. When darkness or perceived darkness is on the threshold, it is daunting. Best wishes for your entry.

cool poem and thought. Sometimes I think that I don't want to know what is coming down the pike towards me, just want to live today and don't worry about tomorrow which may never come.

Thank you, jake. That's the wise way to live. I pretty much do, but I don't have blinders on and can read and think. ;) Blessings, Barbara

The Coward is interesting in the way its font size in the five lines suggests the eponymous theme of the poem. All the lines have the same sized font except for the middle line, the crux of the coward's fear: what. This word is in a much smaller font, as though the narrator wishes to hide what he or she fears by keeping it small, and - at least - less seen. The poem's shortcoming is its choice of blunt statement. This makes it too ordinary for excellence. How about: "Hah!/ No coward I/ with eyes( smaller font)/ shut tight (back to previous font). Or, 'I opened my peepers to/ armies of toads.' Or to a 'Selfie flagranté.'

I too am concerned for what is coming and I'm glad we don't know when. We just must stay focused and in the ready and pray for those who are not preparing for what is coming.

Well done

I hate to agree with you, but I fear what is coming too. It may be here even sooner than many of us think. The world is a powder keg just waiting for the first person to light a match.

Sad but true.

Yes, I feel the same. Too much has happened, and things will get worse. The Devil is busy these days. I fear for my children, their children--etc.
I have a few granddaughters that are pregnant. God Bless their souls. Thank you for the great awareness. We are not cowards, we have no control. Things are happening, as the Bible warned.
