This is a lovely image you have painted here, far more impressive even than the photo. I love the magic that you have found in what many would see as an ordinary place. The only thing I might suggest is moving the reveal of the place as the speakers backyard until further in the poem. It steals some of it's own thunder when stated in the second or third line.

Hello again JLR I hope you are enjoying your day. I like your Take a photo poetry contest entry. How you got all that from that picture amazes me. looking at the same picture I don't know if I could come up with half as much. Different things inspire different people I guess. Good Job!

My good friend, so good to hear from you! I am so fortunate to have such a sight to reflect upon so close. The trick for me, however, is to pause and breathe into the tranquility this provides.

Jim,
You use line breaks, space and your imagery well in this free verse poem to remind us the peace and Beaty that can be found in our own backyards. It also makes the rain a metaphor for new life.
Good photo and good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

We often take these thongs fo granted and fail to see the inspiration they can give.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

-Very nice photo and poem to go with it.
-You create an excellent word picture of the nature that surrounds you.
-There are many good images in this poem:
"rhapsodizing with the whisper of a breeze" and
"dreams of precious fine-cut emeralds."
-I like how you included the animals and characterized them by their behaviors and how you " share with many four-legged neighbors."
-A very good entry; good luck in the contest.
-One small thing: consider humidity instead of humidness

This is a great photo to write a poem about. I like the way your poem adds to the picture as well as the picture adding to the poem. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend.

What a marvellous photo. I certainly understand how this view, and the presence of beautiful animals, could prompt a lyrical outpouring such as your poem. Very expressive, luxurious vocabulary. Your jewel is definitely without price. Best wishes for your entry.

Wendy, thank you! Yes, we are truly blessed! But .. we must ...pause and breathe in every precious moment to truly absorb the gift of God.

This poem, My Jewel Has No Price, finds the poet in a state of rapture with the natural world and immediate environment which serves as home and a place for an extended family. Nice.

A beautiful free verse poem here, J. Many fine images and an atmosphere that speaks of tranquility. How nice to have a babbling brook just outside your back door along with all the other things in nature.

Excellent photograph and I wish you great luck with the Contest Committee with this gem. :))

great poem about nature and your own slice of paradise just outside your door. I like the format and I like the ending stanzas the best as it sums up the poem nicely.
