Excellent entry for the
~ Blended Rhyming Poem ~ writing prompt contest.

I love Pablo Neruda poems. You did a good job incorporating it in your poem.

I enjoyed reading it. I also enjoyed your unique style and well chosen words. The rhyme doesn't seem forced.

Good presentation Your writing flows naturally and it's easy to understand.

Good luck in the contest.
Well done.

I thank you my friend! I appreciate your lovely review and kind words so very much! And always love to hear from another Joyce Kilmer fan, as he was the reason that I started loving poetry at the age of eight. Thanks again!

This is the best blended rhyming poem I have read so far! To use the lines from a basic poem about trees to highlight an eccentric bird lady is genius! It flowed well, made sense and had a touch of humor. A most enjoyable read!

June, I thank you very much for such a lovely review and kind comments! And I can't thank you enough for the generous gift of six stars!
I've loved the poem Trees since I first memorized it at the age of eight.
So it felt only right to use it for my first attempt at a blended poem.
    Thanks again my dear friend!

Glad to see that you're back at the writing post and turning out some fine poems again. I've always enjoyed Kilmer's poem, and I like what you've done with it. This is a really interesting contest and I've enjoyed reading the entries, including your lovely one here.

Fun read, Debi:-)

Hey there my Beautiful Birthday Buddy! Yes the fog is lifting a little more everyday since I got home. Not sure if you had heard but you came close to buying those lottery tickets alone in Oct. All my vitals crashed and I had lost a lot of blood during the surgery, so the 2 combined caused them to call code blue and they said I was lucky to survived it. Four blood transfusions and meds to get my heart rate & BP above 30 was so scary.. I'm only telling you this because I wasn't very coherent for days after but remember trying to write a little between the fog but thought of you and some other dear friends, and missing this time with you all.. It's so good to be home and to be back with my fav people here. So thank you my very dear friend for such a kind review and lovely comments.

Delightful Debbie.
I enjoyed the blended rhyming poem and I do think Joyce Kilmer would approve. (smile)
Good work weaving the lines of his poem in to this new piece.

Blessings and I hope you are recovering nicely.

Good job. Thanks for placing the ( * ) at the required sentences, no other entry did, and I had to search forever. I remember that poem from school, I like it too, maybe not as much as you, but it was easy to read and easy to see the imagery.

I like your version because it is easy to read, it rhymes (as per rules), bounces along very nicely and ends with a funny surprise.

Good job.

Thanks so much Gary for the lovely review and the kind comments about my blended poem. Yes this is maybe what started it for me, so I was excited to use it for the contest. I truly appreciate your complimentary words.
Gosh its good to have you back Gary. I have been praying for you and your family ever since I read your story, and can barely think of it without tearing up myself. So I can imagine how horrible this is for you guys. I just want you to know that I am always here for you as you have always been there for me.
God bless you my very special friend and I hope you feel the love that is being sent your way!

Hello Debi a good day to you. I hope this finds you well. I liked the flow and rhyme of your poem. Until I got to the last stanza all I could see was this crazy pigeon lady from the movie home alone 2 that was until I found out Winnifred was a kook-atoo.

I thank you so very much my friend, for the lovely review and fun comments. I had lots of fun with this, although I love Kilmer'' original and did not think it was right to stay with the theme of trees. So I guess that's why I lightened up and added some humor. You have been so very kind my dear friend.

WOW! This one calls for a 6! You have so cleverly and entertainingly woven
together Kilmer and Marquette--with vivid, creative descriptions of a true wacko. LOL! I've been writing parodies for decades, and I really like this one.

Oh Janice, you are so very kind. I think that is the best compliment I have ever had to have my name even in the Same line with Kilmer. I love that you write parodies. I think I will try another one soon, as it was fun.
And I do have to thank you for such a lovely review and comments and for the very gracious gift of six stars. I am so honored! I appreciate it so much my very lovely friend.

Debi,

I loved this. Of course I also loved Joyce Kilmer's poem. I especially like that you almost de-personified the bird lady and turned her into a tree. This is a sure contender for the contest.

I love finding so many friends that also love the old classic Trees. It has been my favorite since I was 8 years old and helped me with my love of poetry. Thanks again my dear friend.
