I really liked this poem. It reminded me of the Marsh girl from Where The Crawdads Sing. My one critic would be the last line doesn't seem to flow for me. Congrats on your win!

Thanks so much Alyssa for the kind review and words. I am sorry that the line didn't flow well for you, as it was right in line with all the others and everyone thought it was the best line in the whole poem. However I know that if I am not reading others poems in the right rhythm, then I can't get it to sound good at all. So I do understand. But I do thank you once again for your kind review.

In my opinion, such an easy rating - not necessary to even consider or take time to think about - definitely a winning entry, but certainly not unexpected from this gifted writer. Congratulations for this smoothly rendered rhyming excellence...

Oh Eve, I have to add this beautiful review to my folder of my favorite reviews. I wish I had one more review nomination left because you certainly deserve it. I am still having some rough days as I am finally home from the hospital, but have therapy and HHC everyday. So it's been a struggle. The reason I bring this up is because your review added some much needed sunshine to my day as there is nothing like kindness to make a person feel better. My lovely friend it means more than you could possibly know. Thank you for the gracious six stars too, as they are the icing on the cake. You have made my day, and weekend, so thank you again my lovely friend.

You are so welcome, my dear Debi - I am so sorry to learn you are struggling with serious health issues. I was completely unaware of the gravity of your situation until I read a poem written in tribute to you. I am so sorry if I appeared less than supportive to date. I didn't know, or realize your position. I am still relatively uninformed of your condition, I can become so immersed in my own health issues and frailties, I miss the circumstances others may be enduring. Forgive me, dear Lady, I hope and pray for your timely recovery...Eve

Eve, you are one of the loveliest people I know here and I am honored to be your friend. I will share a little about myself, but would also appreciate if you would do the same as I have seen what prayers can do and when we pay attention we can truly see how God sends people into our lives to be miracles and that is how I feel about you. I just had my first surgery where they put in a knee, but also all the hardware and rods to make it so that I may be able to walk again after being stuck in a wheelchair for so long. I am having my second leg done hopefully in Sept and they believe that with hard work I will be able to walk by Christmas. However is surgery I lost a lot of blood, caused my chronic anemia to drop down to 6 and my vitals crashed and they had to call code blue and it took many days in bed for me to be able to sit up again as the blood pressure was down to 60/32 and heart at 30. They were trying to control it by meds but it took 4 days to get me to do it on my own. I almost didn't make it and they were scared but I was in too much of a fog to know anything. This is all due to my Lupus. But appreciate your prayers and truly want to return those prayers for you my lovely friend!

I recently did much the same with some of the poems that have inspired me. I pray that I did not anger any of the fans of the original. If I did I am sorry they feel that way. As a writer I reserve the right to fashion my own version of any original work that I see. As long as I avoid plagiarizing the original work, I think that I am OK.

Hi Nomi, as this was my first time, I wanted it to be completely different than Trees, because Kilmer already did that one. So I thought a little humor was best and I am thrilled that it went so well. I would love to read some of the ones that you have done sometime! Maybe you could copy & message one here and there. This poem, Eccentric Bird Lady, describes a rather weird lady while being framed to Kilmer's super-famous ode to trees. I can't imagine such a bizarre lifestyle.

Thanks so much Bill! Yes it's bizarre and thats why she is called eccentric.
Thats the beauty of writing, is that we get to use our imagination and it doesn't always have to be believable. Thats why I add at the end that I think Winnifred is a kook-atoo instead of a cockatoo. Lol! Thanks my dear friend for the kind review and words.

fun take on this prompt. I will consider entering it using one of my favorite poems Alone by Edgar Allen Poe, although there is some dispute whether he actually wrote it, I come down on those who say he wrote it as it fits his style so well.

First congratulations on your win. Nicely done. I remember Kilmer's Trees very well, one of my favourites at the time only exceeded by Ozymandias and Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
