And that's why I never had pets. No, that's not why but I like this fictional poetic tale. It has humor and is well constructed. The theme of killing, by accident, of an aquatic pet is one many can relate too. There is a huge goldfish Heaven out there.

Thank you for a super review. It is quite hard to tell if they are alive or dead when they never do anything much! Lol. That's why I now have a dog!

As a child, I had a tortoisem, and it went into hibrernation. At least that is what we thought it was doing. It turned out it wasn't. It was in fact quite dead. It really is quite easy to get these things wrong.

Thank you for understanding! When they never do anything much anyway it's very easy to get it wrong!

Lol! I'm sorry to hear about those hermit crabs. But I totally understand if they "stank" that you needed to keep the tank clean. Then again, your kids could have been assigned more responsibilities...Lol. Cute poem and hope this does well in the contest!

Thanks Helen. They put the little crumbs of food in each day - which remained uneaten. I don't think the kids were old enough to refresh the water (maybe I didn't trust them enough!) at that point. Lol. An unfortunate demise.

At least you made some recompense to these dear little kids, Children's ability to love love all living creatures is amazing. They are a great blessing to us adults, they have a great ability to reveal the sanctity of all life. Beautifully written dear Wendy, blessings Roy

Great entry for the contest. These don't look like pets that I would choose to have. Your verse is well written, has great rhyming, and is fun to read. Hope it does well in the contest.

Thank you Anne. No, not my choice either, but at that age that's what they wanted - and it seemed an easy introduction to caring for pets!
    Thanks for your good wishes.

The author's words were clear, interesting, descriptive and creative.
This poem made me smile all through especially the last two verses!
The poem flows and connects well. The artwork goes well with the
words and theme of this poem. Enjoy the new pets, Wendy!

Thank you Harmony. Lovely review. Ah, just the one dog now, and no children at home ... much easier! Lol.

lol, this definitely goes into the category of not funny, but actually quite funny. Definitely a good reminded to read up about any pets one intends to keep! I think I'll stick to cats - definitely no hibernating there :-)

Thanks Mike. It was supposed to be an easy introduction into the responsibilities of keeping pets - for the kids. These days I'm happy with just a dog! And I can always tell he's very much alive.

Wendy,
It's sad that two hermit crabs bit the dust, but maybe they dug themselves out and did their "nothing" for years to come! Lol.
Your rhyme is excellent and your poem flow nicely.
Good luck in the contest.
Blessings,
Cindy

This is sad but kinda funny. No disrespect for the dearly departed crustacean. You learned like I did, can't bring them home like other pets. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest,

If I had a six...this is so cute! You? A murderess? Ummm... I, too, may have murdered some hermit crabs without knowing it. Yikes!
The rhyme is steady and smooth and fun and engages me, pulls me into the story. I like this one!

Thank you very much Tina. It's so easy to make a mistake about pets that never do anything! Glad you enjoyed it.
