I thought this was a very touching piece. It is always nice to reminisce. I think it is very cathartic to write things down. And, in the future if you wanted you could change a thing here and there and a name or two, and you have a road map for a nice piece of fiction. You wrote very clearly and I had no trouble following what you wrote.

Thank you so much for reviewing this. I think you are right about turning some of it into a novel. There are some things I can't put in because, it don't want to upset extended family, but I could change names. I'm glad you find this story easy to follow.

I'm so glad that you got out at night and did something different for your sanity! I guess your dad's father was the beginning of his failing. My dad is falling a lot, too and my mom is not healthy enough to help him.
It's good that Don could finish the roofing job but it's surprising how he tried to break up all his sisters' relationships! Lol. I guess he was possessive of his sisters?

Did you mean to put that last sentence in bold?
Suggestions:
I'd had to keep Lauren a much of the time (remove 'a')
He words were all glowing compliments, (His)

Thank you, All the type was bold for easer reading, but somehow that sentence got in a different font. I think I've fixed it. Thanks for pointing out the other spags. I don't why he thought he knew about relationships. Carol had tried to talk him out of marrying Kimberly. Evan and I stayed out of it because, it doesn't usually work. Dad had been going down hill for several year while Mom was alive. He got better for a while with me, but it didn't last.

My, it seems like Don had gotten himself into a pick hadn't he? And handing out advice on relationships is a bit of a bind, it's a hard gig. Life does change things, doesn't it?
Knowing poetry the way I do, I'm wondering what the teacher had been taught himself. As they've asked me to teach writing at church, although I've not had a single lesson, fortunately writing songs has some sort of ability attached, but I don't know if I can. Well done Beth, blessings Roy
Typo : Able to (be) finished with the roof. 2: Don had tried (to try) to break (with) Carol.

Thank you Roy. I'm not so sure the teacher knew a lot about poetry. Those continuing education teachers aren't checked out that well as to what training they have had. Don seem to think he was smarter than his sisters but I thought he should have staying away from the adviser role. Thanks for pointing out those spags.
