This is excellent, G. I'm so glad I scrolled down otherwise, I would have missed this. It is, to no surprise, beautifully written, and the concept of starting over is terrifying but perhaps necessary. Loved this! Best, JohnC.

Hello G,
I enjoyed your clever story.
It's good to have a name beginning with the letter "A".
Perhaps the young woman is Emily.
You developed the theme very well with small bits of information,
often not complete.
I think Aaron will need a wise, beautiful young woman.
But then again, it appears he has God on his side.
Well done.
Robert

To meditate, you begin by envisioning a scene similar to your opening paragraph. Warm sun, the sloshing of cool water, a pristine blue sky, wind whispering through foliage with birds singing, coupled with deep breaths, erases the stresses of the modern day. I was at peace until the voice interrupted. But in your beautiful story, the voice is welcomed, and can bring new life. Aaron had been watched and would now reap the benefits of his actions, as Christian beliefs say we will all experience. God forgot nothing. A beautiful woman appeared, and the world will begin again. Beautiful story.

Loved this story G a story of rebirth. Of Aaron living in harmony with the world around him, the last one left to do so. A reinvention of the Adam and Eve story, well told and I loved the early descriptions, the sounds, the beauty. Well done. Cheers Valda

Wow! You've got it all figured out! The walking on the water no ripples or anything!
Sounds good to me! I would pass this one along to anyone else. I am sure glad I read this it has put me in touch with the kinder gentler part of myself. A beautiful woman is all we need to be complete in a fantasy world!
At least that is how your story goes.
Thanks for the thrill!
Jesse

Yes it would be great if we could go back and start again. They didn't get it right the first time, the only problem is they had others here to taint the perfection of couple, most imaginative, the good thing I guess is your theological training. The problem with that is the thousands of years of circularity, the humanising, my encounter had no presuppositions in them, Aaronic priesthood is still with us, with all its political intrigue, when Christ's equalised belief, He affected a non hierarchical church for those that perceive it, there are offices, but no "bosses" beautifully written G, blessings Roy

That's it, the problem with religion is religion, that big organised beast. G

I agree. I don?t like it either. The cross did away with hierarchy.

I thought it was a great contemporary take on the creation story, the Adam and Eve story, or the recreation story, as it were. Told with the usual wit and personality, and with that usual attention to detail that we come to expect from your work. You set that idyllic scene very well in the opening, the tranquil, pastoral scene, and you have a great interpretation of Jesus walking over the water and making Aaron his new Adam. in the end, when that woman appears, he seems quite willing. LOL estory

This is wonderful! Wouldn't it be great to be in on the start of a new world, with only you and a companion. As always, I was hooked from the first line. I'm so glad I have a six to give you.

And I had a six left! I loved this, and I think it could happen that way. The world as it is at the moment is not a nice place. You have, to use one of your expressions, 'lazilly' told this story, nice and calm, drifting along the water on his raft, bringing us with you. The arrival of ... ehem, was just as we would envisage, and the fact that 'someone' else has been watching him, too, and is prepared to give it a second chance, was brilliantly done. I love, love that last line!!! This is a beautiful, well written, enjoyable story, Gareth. Well done. Love Sandra xx

This is fun to read. I can imagine something like this happening. God would not forget anything. Many believe He is coming again very soon. Only He knows.

The man shrugged. "You are." He swept a hand across the horizon. "And not just here. Anywhere."
"Well, I can't be. You're he... oh..." (two dialogues in one paragraph, they need to be separated)
