Such a sad story. Family relationships destroyed - and partially resurrected. You wrote it well, and with emotion. It seems that Jacque was well cared for and loved, and had a successful life, but I can't imagine a more traumatic experience for any mother.

Yes...That Jacque said so, means to me she was well taken care of and felt safe...

I did not put all this in the story because I thought it might get convoluted, by her grandmother took all kinds of odd jobs during the travels, washing dishes, cleaning houses, anything to make a dollar, and continued to work until Jacque could take care of her.
Jacque's mother, my aunt was always I thought a good person, but she was married four times, so any home life might have difficult. Terry.

I wonder how many other families have lived through this sort of trauma, back then and even today. Yes, of course there's all the technology today but I suspect a lot of things remain "closed-lipped" under cover.
Jacque's dad is probably the saddest part of it all and Jacque, herself, the heroine. The best part is that you were able to do the research and leave this gift for future generations. Well done.
