Clouds are amazing to look at, especially while sitting on an airplane. They are so fluffy looking. When I discovered clouds had names, I was so excited. Thank you for sharing. Have a great evening.

Nice commentary on the weather. I like the reference to a star in the day without the moon in it. It's a good visual and if I vote for this I hope it breezes into first place. Well done.

I love poems about clouds and your haiku shows them in action. There is a good feeling in your words as you describe the clouds providing shade. This is a poem that takes the reader into the natural world.

A beautiful picture of a cloud in the sky. I like how you name the cloud and talk of the breeze. It makes the reader feel as if they are outside looking up.

Hi Michelle Yes, lately, we do need as many shady respites as we can get. Heat and humidity is tiring. I like that you made the word bright yellow like the color of the sun which is the morning star.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Heh heh, the thought of clouds hiding in the shade of a distant star boggles the mind, but it does make for a really good haiku, with a great satori line, best one yet Michelle, blessings Roy

I suspect it's an art form that needs developing over time, which being older I have less to waste trying to meet its requirements for in review of my essence I am far more worldly wordy. Good luck

Flowing lines akin to clouds. In the heat of summer these clouds provide shelter and slowly generate comfort. Nature's inspiration of haiku poetry. Beautiful work Shelly

That big ol' day star is certainly bright where I am at the moment, and a little respite would be more than welcome! Great use of alliteration and assonance to give this ample poetic flair, even within the bounds of a haiku. Great stuff :-)

I always thought the classic haiku was a 5-7-5 pattern but this captures the look and feel of it, the balance of it in a shorter, more staccato rhythm. I liked how you handled the alliterations, and it has a lighthearted mood to it, a bit humorous, as you describe these clouds as umbrellas or sun shades on a hot day. They can be that. estory
