You took the words right out of my mouth. I am in my 70s and I know somewhere around some corner I will meet my demise. But I too wish for that extra time. Even though I, as a Christian, absolutely believe that what is to come next is so far superior to what I have now that I will never even miss the present.

Still, I kinda like it here, it grows on ya'.

Nice easy read. Thanks

Humorous and realistically written. Thank you for participating in this contest. It should be interesting to read on and find the final conclusion from differing points of view. Good luck.

Great picture and post.
I understand because now, my time is my own, which is delightful. And the simple things are enjoyable, to have the time to sit and think about them, or better yet, be part of them. And, like you, I'm not ready to leave. Life, itself, is beautiful. Enjoying my little world is peaceful.
You've written a thoughtful, meaningful piece. Very good.

Oh, can I relate to you, Poet, even in number of decades lived. I, too, spend my mornings sitting in my recliner looking out the window at robins, squirrels, and rabbits while wondering "how much longer I will last." And a long-time friend died last week and my long-time wife is my best friend. In conclusion, I, too, wish for many years to come. You made my day by sharing this poem. Rod

Again, Rod. I am deeply honored. I hope our wish for both of us becomes reality and we last many more years to come.

you have said what so many of us oldsters' think! For myself, I veer from being eager to 'graduation' day to wanting a few more semesters. Well written and an excellent entry for the contest. ann
