Hi, Tom. To do due diligence I went to YouTube and listened to "God Only Knows"---three times.
Of course I knew the song, but overlaying your beautifully expressed sentiment simply warmed my heart!
Love: " You are my personal cardiologist."
Such an original way show your heart's contentment!
Your "other" is indeed "significant!"

Of course, I shared it. One of the things that kept me in the game in college was my writing her a poem everyday. The girls in the dorm would gather to hear what it was I had to say. I kept it up for two years. Unfortunately, none were saved. Being 29 while she was 19 was a challenge I was glad to meet.

As a man who has been married for 28 years I appreciate the subtly of your poem. As men, we were--at least we used to be--taught to go out and find happiness by accomplishing things: a career that fulfills and provides for our family. We learned through that excercise to appreciate the difference between a custom tailored suit and the ones we bought off the rack when we were young a still climbing the ladder. It took me years to understand that my true happiness was the woman at home praying for me, feeding me when I came home late, thankful to see me and compare our day. The one I was really wearing those fancy suits to impress.

This free verse, God Only Knows, pays tribute to the one who was never in your sights, but was always game. The hunter and the hunted often move in a forest needing clearing for a better look at what is there. Whew! Metaphor high.

In human beings, there's probably not in reality, the perfect match, the perfect couple, but we can come close, I'm so happy with the wife God gave, and couldn't be more grateful for the daughters we have, and the beautiful grandchildren we have.
