Having a ginger boy myself, I can attest to your characterisation of freddie. They are wonderful company and lords of ll the see--and beyond. You have captured the bounce and joy of your freddie well.

Ahhhhh!!! So purrecious. I love your style here. This was fun to read. I should read it to the grands. Freddie has the unusual marmalade markings. Beautiful!!

Smiles from me and purrs from Rosebud Marie!

Thanks so much :-). It was nice to write something lighthearted and a tribute to our little fluffball certainly fit the bill! He's a terror at times, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

I love his white paws Mike, Freddie is cute and he seems like a wonderful companion. I love this inventive and clever poem with words from the heart as I can tell that you love him so, a touching and well metered write with great rhymes, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Thabks so much, Dolly :-). He's a very sweet boy. He knows when he's been naughty that all he needs to do is hop up and paddle my tummy and I'm incapable of being annoyed with him!

As a card-carrying member of the feline fan club, I'm purring with glee over this little bit of fluff! Although my Toula and Annabelle have passed on, they each gave me twelve years, plus -- both their fierce independence and most endearing ability to cuddle up just when I needed it most!

Here's to Freddy ~ and to lucky you, chosen to be his human!

I am lucky indeed :-). They do always seem to know when we need them and give us a gesture or a full blown cuddle!

This is so cute! Cats do have a way into your heart even though they do what they want and when they want. I have a trio of my own so I know how entertaining they can be. Great use of rhyme and flow. Can't find anything wrong with it. Just cuteness.

Thank you, Wanda :-). I think their independence is partly what I like about them. It means, if I get a cuddle, they actually want one (or they're feeling cold, lol).

Awww! Freddie! I love him! Pets are so soothing to the mind and soul. They are a labor of love. I have a Husky named Echo, and he makes me smile every day, just like Freddie does for you. Great entry, Mike. I hope you and Freddie Win!!

Freddie is gorgeous - nice markings and that plume of a tail. You've described his appearance and activities with poetic appeal in vivid imagery.

'He makes life better' is the perfect way to describe a pet's impact.

Freddie thanks you, and with a swish of his plume, he leaves. So glad you enjoyed this one :-)

Lily wants me to write something about her. She'd write it herself if I let her, but she's got muddy paws at the moment.

A great entry for this contest. Your cat is very beautiful, love those white paws. Freddie is a different name for a cat, but sounds like you all love him very much. I hope this does well in the contest.

Thank you, Anne :-). We named him after Freddie Mercury, because he seemed like a little showman!

. . . and Freddie is adorable. Love the pictures--esp the one
with him and the yellow flower. You did a great job, Mike,
introducing us to Freddie. He's one special kitty. He looks like
he could be a 'ragdoll' breed. I could seed Freddie doing
everything you mentioned.
Best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thanks so much, Jan :-). We don't know his provenance, although we have wondered if there's some Ragdoll in him. He also has tufts between his toe beans that make him silent, that tail that's like a big floofy blanket, and he likes playing with water (like, properly getting wet, unlike any other cat I've had!). If you look up the Turkish Angora, I think he looks/seems like he has some of that breed in him.

Ahem, sorry - I could talk about Freddie all day :-). Thanks so much for the review, and for sponsoring the prompt!

I had a( rescued by me) a kitty that I believed was a Norwegian Forest Cat. Her fluffy tail looked like a stalk of pampas grass waving in the wind. 🐈‍⬛
