What a lovely article, which I enjoyed very much. As a basis (ie following my instincts and how I feel inside), I don't think there's anything beyond our physical bodies. I think, once we die, that's it - nothing. Of course, that's based on a completely non-religious upbringing and a generally agnostic viewpoint.
That said, I love to explore the possibilities as a writer, and never limit my imagination in any such way. I also wonder, sometimes, about energy transfer. If, as physics tells us, energy is never lost, merely transferred into another form, then is life force an energy? If so, if must move on somehow.

I have had many experiences which reinforce what you explain. No question. None.
As an RN attending the dying I've no doubt their spirit was moving to the next phase of life, even as I watched them flatline.
The most radical of atheists have called out as they stutter-stepped from earthly life to the beyond...

This is a well thought out idea and I think it is very close to what might be the next step in all our lives. There isn't an end, just a going on to something else, probably life in heaven or otherwise or maybe a chance to try earthly life again or life on some other world.

Interesting that you mention brain fog. Have you had Covid? I have and I've had a few cases of brain fog - fortunately only one in the last several months. It's weird, isn't it.
Back to my post, it is always a pleasure to discover those who are open and who share my thoughts. I believe we learn from each other when we listen. Thanks again so very much. ann

To my knowledge, I have not had Covid. I do have allergies and attribute that, but the older I get, the slower my mind works.

Well, I don't really know who's right or wrong when it comes to where we go, if anywhere, after this life is over. But after much of my life spent as a non-believer in Jesus Christ or God, I started reading and studying, doing a complete about face to become a firm believer in the above and life after death. Now, I'm just hoping I'm going to be on the right bus. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I don't really know who's right or wrong when it comes to where we go, if anywhere, after this life is over. But after much of my life spent as a non-believer in Jesus Christ or God, I started reading and studying, doing a complete about face to become a firm believer in the above and life after death. I think someone's opinion is worth paying attention to when they show they have done some thoughtful research with an open mind. Such is the case with your article, where you have delved into various belief systems about physical incarnations and souls.
I also believe that life is a continuum.
I find this comment of yours could fit 'blind faith' as well: 'I also believe such experiences are available primarily to people who believe they exist. One must open the door first by expecting them to occur.'

Ann, I am in the midst of a mind-bending-to-breaking novel (a tome, really, of 1200 + pages). The book is Jerusalem, by Alan Moore. The writer can't know more about after-death than you or I, but I swear -- and you will too -- when you are reading his novel you would swear he is writing it from the other side. It is available on Kindle (or as I prefer it, Kindle on PC, which can be downloaded for free). If you want to know more about Alan Moore, I suggest watching the youtube video of him reading his own poem, "Gangster's Never Die". But, really, you will consider reading "Jerusalem" the most fruitful of research. I think it's about 12 bucks on Amazon for the Kindle version.
