I fully respect your point of view. But let me assure you, if your beliefs are correct, I'm going to be one very peed off Church goer. I will have foregone all those naughty pleasures for nothing. Obeyed all those other rules and not eaten meat on Fridays, at least for the first twenty or thirty years. And gotten up early every Sunday to go to Church. And put money on the plate. Gee I deserve something. Just joking Lord.

thanks for the smile!!! Indeed, learning and obeying and doing the right thing counts!!! I believe we grow ever closer to our Creator by becoming more like our 'Father'. the punishment is the separation and our souls yearning to unite.... and we will eventually. Thanks for the review and your comments. ann

I enjoyed this philosophical post.
Your thought provoking writing leaves the reader to question their own opinion on the subject.
After all that is what great writing does, right? :)
Your viewpoint is based in Christianity,
I believe that Grandfather Spirit was the creator of all living things.
Some readers my believe that extraterrestrials created all beings.
I think a post like this is important because it can spark conversations between all sorts of people who have different views.
Thanks for posting and congratulations on your win!

I think that you have an argument about the Afterlife that there isn't one at all. Anyway, congratulations on winning the contest! Much deserved! I am proud of you! ð???

Thanks so much for reading and commenting. I appreciate your time and your comments. In saying there is no afterlife, I mean only that life continues forever. ann

You are right of course, som folk claim to have been to Heaven and return, I don't believe or disbelieve, but whatever it is, it won't be in this corruptible, of I do believe, because in my experience, the Bible agrees with itself repeatedly, and.human authors have manifold opinions, rebirth is an internal experience that is unique to that person, I could never believe in multiple lives, because every human knows internally that there is an inescapable accountability, Heaven can never be reached by the mind, however, rational thinking can, but it still depends on the awakening that happens internally. How do I know? I was the complete agnostic. And no man can truthfully say there is no God, as scripture says God is a Spirit, and we are flesh, unless our spirit is awakened, doubt will continue.
At last, an honest opinion. Beautifully written, I see you won the contest, blessings Roy

Thanks so much for reading and commenting. It is only through open, honest debate and listening ear that we learn. Indeed, I know we all share the same Creator and only when we can see through a glass clearly will we know the real answers. Or maybe we do know them on deep spiritual level not always accessible to our minds and souls in our physical bodies. I appreciate your time and your kind words. ann

Firstly congratulations on winning the competition. I found your piece very thought provoking. I am personally very cynical and have always thought when you 're dead you're dead however I will keep an open mind in case someone comes back and proves me wrong. Take
care Jen.

Of course, to recognize a visit from someone gone before requires an open mind as well. Have you ever met someone in your life and you immediately felt a kinship, a sharing of philosophy, an immediate connection.... Maybe you knew them in a past life. The same thing could be said for someone you immediately dislike. Could be we that we travel in groups, learning, exploring togethe? Maybe if we have a problem with someone in this life, we might work toward making it right so they don't show up next time around. Seriously, thanks for reading and for commenting. And an especial thanks for the congratulations. ann

You delve into some interesting concepts here on life the and the hereafter.

What are the alternatives and can life start all over again through a relived, learned experience and spiritual growth.

Thought provoking concepts you raise:

-The exploration of soul, the physical and the metaphysical and the progression through levels of existence and experience as a training ground.
-The journey of memory that lasts in this lifetime or to the next realm of the unseen.
-Your exploratory voice is very strong, that is telling from personal experience or through your search for the truth, and research on the subject from other religious points of view.
-I like your frankness and authentic voice on this topic.

I wonder, if explorations through your thoughts and writing have brought you to explore prayer rituals, burial rights and traditions and what these practices and beliefs may have revealed to you regarding the afterlife and the preservation of the soul.

I find your subject and your opinions quite enthralling and your writing very open and embracing of this topic. This makes your writing appealing, and your detailed and passionate work, invigorating to read.

Thanks for sharing these opinions and views on this topic. Have a nice day.

Thanks for such a deep review! I appreciate your thoughts and your wonderings. I have not personally explored various burial, prayer or religious tradition rites --- but I have read a lot about them over the years. For prayer, I just talk to God -- sometimes out loud, sometime mentally and - I hope - sometimes by my actions. While I respect others' burial beliefs and rites, the empty, used body, does not hold much attraction for me.

I remember, when my mom died - I was 13, and my dad, my brother and I sat at the funeral home for 3 days, only leaving for the briefest of time to eat or change clothes. My 11 year-old brother and I slept on the benches near my mom's body. Part of the ritual was that the soul does not leave earth's realm for 3 days and we needed to be there. I am not complaining about having done this as I assume it satisfied some 'rules' of my family's faith. But the only thing I feel I personally gained was a great appreciation for an aunt -- whose reputation was less than stellar and who was not spoken of very highly. This aunt came, after hours, and asked my dad for permission to take us down the street to the bus station for a coke. We were allowed to go and the relief of leaving the room for few minutes was palpable. I know it was an easy thing for her to do and I always admired it her for it. Maybe that was the purpose of that particular burial ritual, that particular time.

Oh my goodness! For give me for blathering on! Thanks for your review. ann

Thank you, Ann for sharing this personal experience. I am happy you did. I broach this topic though in a slightly different way, in my poem Song for an Orchid. I would be honoured if you found some relevance in it and shared your thoughts with me. All the best 🌸

Hi Annmuma,
firstly, congratulations on winning this contest, well deserved.
What a great subject to write about. If one hasn't ever thought about what happens to the physical vessel after it extinguishes, then I hazard a guess that fear is involved?

I guess we all form our own views in relation to one's beliefs, faith, and or religion. Me, I know... if we are made up of energy, which we most definitely are, then, that energy can never dissipate into nothing. Energy surrounds us at every level of existence. Now what happens to that energy is a totally different quandary all together. Does it just connect to other energy, meld to the nearest energy source... are we the lightning strikes crashing back to earth?

I'm guessing most have had personal experiences with deja vu, knowing something before it happens, knowing someone when first meeting them, connecting with a certain person, that feeling of familiarity? But really it all just theory, at least it is to me. Of course I have my own set of beliefs, and experiences of the 'supernatural', and still the logical me say... who knows?

I enjoyed reading this outstanding write Annmuma. Very well written.
It evokes thought.

With our thoughts we create...
past knowledge.

Kind regards,
James.

This story, Afterlife - Not Really, gives the readers some idea of the theories that exist out there about what exists for us after death. More life is my choice as well. An existence without corporeal senses would be unimaginable.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Scan through my portfolio for I have written a few pieces on this subject.
I also agree more than not of paragraph three above. As for connecting with those who moved on, a deceased sister and our mother has contacted my sister, but for me, and don't laugh, my dog, who died last month has awaken me at the same time we did his morning walk and I have heard him plop down behind the chair he favored in my office while I was writing or reading things on FanStory.
Lastly, when we mortally pass only our bodies have an end while our spirits become eternal, never experiencing death again.

A sixer!!!! My days are always brighter when they include six shiny stars! thank you.

I have no problem in accepting anyone's reports of visits from those who are no longer visible on this physical plane. I've had experiences with contacts from those who have passed through my life. You might enjoy reading my Last Goodbye or First Hello; it is in my portfolio and outlines one of my most striking contacts from someone I loved and who loved me back. I will be checking out your portfolio as well.

I enjoyed your review and appreciate you time. ann
