I ran out of sixes on the first day!! This is a wonderful poem about a man's 'love affair' with his computer. The awful thing is, it truly is happening! I hate being away from my laptop, but I think I would survive ... just! You're author's notes about what Zuckerberg wants to create, I can see him doing it, too! This was really entertaining to read, and a bit scary! Well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Haha. We are getting there. I don't like metaverse. I still like real things and travel to real places. Even though I have many friends in Fanstory, you are one of my virtual friends, I still think someday we should all meet. I might visit Helen when I'm in Seattle. I'm not sure when I will be in NC.
It's not healthy. But we are going there. According to Elon Musk, we might already living in the simulated world.
Well done.

Thanks for your excellent review and your support and perspective on this little dark humored piece. About the only thing I really like about technology is being able to share creative writing with like minded people on Fanstory. estory

Yes, estory, I could identify with this. I suppose many have become like this and I was almost the same. I now have a brand new computer and I hardly use it.I lived your poem. Ulla:)))

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the poem. We have to keep our distance from these machines. We have to keep them in perspective. estory

Your poem emphasizes how technology plays too much of a part in our lives. The metaverse is not appealing to me, we need to get back out in nature. Your poem shows how bonded some are to their computer.

Author,
You make such an excellent point. People have lost the art of socializing, due in part, with our obsession of a cold machine that keeps people apart.
Great work.
Good luck in the contest,
Blessings,
Cindy

Thanks for the excellent review and your support of the premise behind the poem here estory
Comment from Wendy G
It is certainly a different world, and the love for one's computer can certainly develop into an obsession, and when this becomes widespread and impacts human relationships, the outcome is disastrous. Well written.

A splendidly constructed poem with some ingenious half-rhymes in the second and fourth lines of each verse. These darned machines sometimes do seem to get more attention than our human loved ones. I once wrote a poem on much the same lines about the mobile phone.
Just one nit in the last line - inseperable/inseparable

Comment from Gloria ....
Man's relationship with his/her tech is a strange on indeed. You have captured the obsession, and the cool and non-human emotionless "universe" on the other side.
I think Zuckerberg's Metaverse is a huge disaster waiting to happen, especially when no one is guarding the coop.
A most enjoyable read today. :))

Comment from Irish Rain
Oh wow.
I know people who are actually like this.
Lonely and sad, but they refuse to see the
truth of why.
Machines are a poor substitute for humans.
I'm reading a book right now called 'The
Passengers'...about self-driving cars.
Quite frightening.
Wonderful post, perhaps someone will recognize
themselves, and break free.
Blessings...

Comment from dellsworthpoet
A strange enigma, or is it. It just follows cars, stereos, other toys.
The poem flows well. The images are clear. The progression and conclusion fit well. The language is clear and touched with irony.
Thanks for a good read.
