Dads can help kids make some of the best memories.
A couple of observations:
Para 1, 12nd sentence: Add paragraph space after "dad."
Para 3, 2nd sentence: Remove extra spaces after "old."
Para 3, 4th sentence: Remove extra spaces after "dolls"
Para 7, 3rd sentence: Remove extra spaces after "his"
Para 8, 2nd sentence: Add paragraph space after "wear"
Para 9, 2nd sentence: Add paragraph space after "home"
The good thing about memories is you will always have them even after the loved one is gone.

Hello author, this poem comes from a very special place in your heart and memory. Your poem was written about a time when having less was actually having more. The memories that you have going to The Little Big Dollar store are priceless, and although money was tight, you Dad had the foresight to know that everyone needs a little treat every once in a while. We can't let life just hammer us down. There needs to be some sunshine and fun, and you had that, albeit difficult to obtain.
I especially liked:
We barely had enough money for food in those days, but each time we visited the store I always left there with one of those little dolls, a testament to my father's love for his
little girl.
(A testament to your father's love, indeed. You were a lucky little girl.)
A beautiful, heartfelt story. Those were the days my friend ...

What a wonderful memory. I had a similar doll as a child, although not from such an exciting store as your "Little Big Dollar Store" (love the title by the way). I can't remember where I got mine, but I do still have it. My grandmother spent a lot of time in Chicago because she had a friend who had a store on "the Loop". I don't know much about that store otherwise, but maybe she got the doll there. Makes me wonder. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest!
