I know some people that could be the person in this poem. Some live with regrets that are crippling while others continue to allow those regrets to make their life a better one. Thanks for writing this.

Thank you. I often reflect on the famous line, "But for the grace of God, there go I." This could be anyone's story, if they chose the wrong path.

Thank you. One of my goals when writing about a serious issue is to get inside of my characters life, What makes sense in a given situation, how would I react in a similar circumstance. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece. Sometimes our mistakes don't just hurt us only, they can hurt those around us too. The rhyme scheme was consistent and unforced and the cadence was easy to follow. The story told is sad but true for many.

This is an excellent poem that I am sure many can relate to. You capture clearly the feelings of this individual that regrets how he treated his wife and son and ends up in jail due to drugs. Your smooth poetic form reads like a mini movie.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful and thoughtful poem. So glad (for you) that it isn't autobiographical.... yet it touches the heart of the matter. Your empathy for and understanding of your fictional narrator is evident. The second to the last stanza is especially moving.
