This piece, Bittersweet, plays with the language as we sway from poetic lines to prose. The main idea here seems to be that life comes at us hard, and sometimes, the ability to capture and study it through our own writing, can help us live through it.

Ciao mystery writer. You now have 9 votes.

I enjoyed reading how writing helped you cope with all the hardships you went through in your life. It was your anchor.

Helped you eliminate stress, anxiety, anger etc.

I have always been someone that bottled up my emotions.

Never been a talker and words were just not my thing.

But matters changed when my father passed away in September 2017.

When my mother died suddenly in Dec 2006 pa and I supported each other but when he left me , I was alone .

8 months later, crazy as it seems, I started to think in rhyme and in July2018 I found fanstory.

Writing wee poems helped me out and I actually enjoy it now.

I'm glad that you are enjoying life now and that you are writing about happy things.

Yours too is a wonderful story. I have not shared my childhood pain with anyone else, except for one FS piece. I never wept, ever, until my late sixties when my dog died! Emotions bottled up and sealed. I couldn't express it verbally anyway.
I appreciate your thoughtful and insightful review ... and thank you so much for your vote. Your kind words and understanding mean a great deal to me.

What a delightful addiction you have. I'd like some more of that. It is good to know that you have been able to rise above previously debilitating circumstances to a place where you are now using your writing to help others.

Sounds like you tell the story of many a writer. I know that's how I feel. It seems there is no end to the supply of words and thoughts I have stored up. Yeah, I noticed the intertwined rhyming, I liked it, whether it was there or not.

Nice piece

This was an excellent piece. I loved the compare and contrast of then vs. now. The colors really helped it pop. Thank you so much for sharing this here, and best wishes to you.

Very expressive. I can see how writing would have been therapeutic. My guess is that psychologists might have prescribed that very activity.
You state that the rhyming just came out that way (and not all the time), but the last two paragraphs were distinctly different in feel from all the rest.
Best wishes.

I like the way you wrote this story. It is prose yet reads like poetry. It makes it more fun to read. It sounds like you had some tough times as most of us have. Nicely done. I wish you the best in the contest.

I enjoyed reading your complete message to the world from a wise writer.
Bittersweet is a great title. It is amazing how people express the same message. You hear of people being accused of plagiarising someones work. However, if you think about it, they may have been innocent. Maybe not in all cases, however, us humans think too much alike. Thank you for your wonderful post.

You write eloquently, and the mixture of poetic and narrative sentences fits perfectly with the theme of eclectic variety in writing. I'm totally with you on the need - I think of poetry as the steam vent for my imagination - and then experience lends us perspective! I very much enjoyed.
