Hi there,
I always laugh when people wrap up the supposed 'sage advice' in some smart anecdote because you know they're basically talking out of their arse nine times out of ten. It's usually peppered with things they wish they'd said or done as opposed to what actually happened. lol
All the best

Sir, Thank you very much! Terry

I almost pointed out the spelling of the very last word of this piece "bellaclose" but then I realized what message you were trying to get across. It worked.
Para 4, 1st sentence: Change "port," to "port;" (comma to semi-colon) Reasoning is because both of these phrases can stand alone, so a semi-colon is suggested.
Para 14, 1st sentence: Remove one extra space between "(" and "9"
CONSIDER using "Ms." rather than "Miss" or "Mrs." throughout.
I am Army but I remember those wrench and hammer days too.
I like Mrs. M's attitude. LOL
Fun read with a variety of tones.

Gary, Thank you for reading and the suggested edits. Miss Bellomy insisted we call her Miss. Terry

I liked these short stories and the last one really made me smile. I had a smart mouth as a youth myself and this story made me think of my trips to the headmasters office lol. Thank you for sharing and have a great week.

Thanks for reading and reviewing, Terry.

I don't know about that advice. Perhaps it came from the cat. After all, they never catch STD's and you'd think tomcats would be spreading them around. LOL Still, it made for a fun read.

LOL, thank you for that great review! Terry.

Great examples! Confused if whacking yourself on both the penis and the head with a hammer would really keep you out of sick bay! Sounds more painful than a hangover! Especially loved the third example--did you really say that?! Glad you learned how to spell "bellicose!"

Lisa, thank you for reading. I am with you on the hitting. I think Carl was tying to make his point with humor, and yes I did, LOL. Terry

I winced reading Carl Trusler's advice. Mrs. M's advice was very practical. Miss Joyce Bellomy sure had a lot to handle with smart-arse you in the classroom! Your reminiscences provided hearty sniggers and chuckles.
Correction:
A principle is a rule, a law, a guideline, or a fact. A Principal is the headmaster of a school.

Lisa thank you for the review and the edit, Terry.

This is a very high-quality piece of writing. It was fairly long, but once the reading was started it kept me going to the end. I wonder if the captain let the ship's doctor make any more announcements?

Leather, Thank you for reading, I don't know if the captain let Carl make any more announcements. I do that the pilots he went out with for liberty thought it was hilarious that Carl woke up on a pool table. Tery.
Comment from Mary Vigasin
Very interesting and somewhat painful in one case.
One particularly was Mrs M's. Way to go grandma!
Apparently your teacher saw you as a smartass and trying to build a rapport with her might have been fruitless. But still it is good advise.
Well-written and enjoyable read
Best wishes

Liberty call, Liberty call, now departing from the port ladder. And the swarm runs ashore as if this port of call will be different from the rest.
Still, the excitement was instant going into the unknown until my feet touched the ground. I was different, remembering the films of syphilis scared the horniness from me, and I never did go "strange."

Carl should have taken his own advice. Perhaps his medical PSA was meant to clear the deck so that he could have his own forgotten night and not have to work so hard the next day.
Thanks for sharing life's lessons with us. You've known some colorful people, and that's a blessing.
