Sometimes, we just try a little too hard. Salt adds flavor to food, but too much or too little can ruin the entire dish. Conversation is like that - you never know just how much to reveal - or not to reveal. And once released words can't be put back into the salt shaker. Just put it all behind and let the awkwardness fade away. Next time, maybe try a little sugar??? lol

You must know better than I but the first word (staccato) describes how the entire piece reads for me. It seems choppy from a to z. Maybe my Circadian rhythm is out of sort as I tossed the night through. Good luck.
I have been wrong before. Once. :-)

Jesse,
There doesn't have to be a winner. We are all on the same team called humanity.
There's more than one truth.
There's your truth and mine,
and it doesn't matter
if they don't align.
Perhaps we all see truth differently, and I think that is OK. It is important for us to speak our truth and, perhaps more so, to allow the opposite view to be spoken and heard. So much depends on the path we have walked, the puddles we've jumped over, the pits we've fallen into - our different life realities. I think it helps to be humble and ask interested questions about the differing views of our team mates.

It is amazing how you start in a relationship and miss the entire picture.
It does not take long to figure them out. Sometimes you and the person do not share interest. There are people who cover up their true self. It is hard to cope with someone who will not leave you alone. Thank you.

We sometimes have more pressing urgent things to do when we meet friends and cut short our time with them. I have several friends and we pick up where we left off when there is a long absence, but we cannot always share all our inner most thoughts with acquaintances, I could identify with your words here Jesse, love Dolly x

Communication can be a trying or even traumatic experience, as the two participants both struggle to make the other one understand what's on their mind. You make it sound like a quickie sexual experience; fumbling, sweaty, and uncomfortable. Not far off the mark I guess. Kate xx

Hello Jesse! What a stellar poem! Perfect image to accentuate your point!

There is a "pool" of kindred experiences...then an excited "rush" as conversation flows unabated!

Oh, I've been there though...when once all the words have cascaded there are those pauses and trickles of silence...

Love your phrasing, my friend!

"Awareness gathers dust..."

Try as we may, we can rarely recapture what "was."

Out of sixes...

Certainly deserving of them!

Karenina

    Good morning, Karenina!
You have hit the nail on the head with this one!
That rush you described was just like the one my friend and I experienced.
Thank you for choosing your favorite phrase, Awareness gathers dust.
I appreciate your virtual six in place of a real one.
I always look forward to your reviews.
Have a lovely weekend, my friend!

Very interesting post. Why do you think the conversation turned awkward after you both disclosed some deeper information. Was it vulnerability or timidity? Thanks for highlighting this snapshot of real life.

It's hard to pick up where you left off. Moods change, circumstances change, current obligations change, and it's so hard to get that perfect moment back. You did a beautiful job of expressing that awkwardness, as you try hard to extend a moment that can never be recaptured. Trying too hard takes away the pleasure of the original, spontaneous moment.

Wow, Michele! You simply nailed it on the head! So far, you are the only one, who understood where I was coming from, and I am eternally grateful! Yes! We tried too hard to bring back the magic and it became clear it was never coming back!
Trying to recapture the moment almost never works.
Thanks for understanding and 'getting' it!
Have a glorious weekend, my friend!

I was two seconds away from joining the other group, then I reread it to clarify something and realized I was way off base. But I've had conversations like that, ones that evoked deep emotion - whatever the emotion was - and you can never get that exact emotional level back. I'm definitely glad I went back for that second read!

Your artwork choice is particularly apt in this fine poem illustrating the unfortunate consequence of a swelling of excitement, and conversation that eventually fumes like a waterfall of misunderstanding.

Very well done, and a fine read today. :))

Ah, so you 'got' the swelling of excitement I was inferring in my poem. Thanks for understanding and relating to when a good conversation goes bad.
I appreciate your kind comments, my friend.
    Have a wonderful weekend!
