Jesse,
This is a good poem describing a conversation that started out well but ending badly. It is sad for friends to be feel awkward but this awkwardness can show a need to change for the better.

A change for the better is always good.
Thank you, Joan, for this insightful review.
Conversations tend to get awkward when the topic gets stale and unnoteworthy.
Best wishes, my friend,
Jesse

I really love how this honest feeling experience is named and characterized. It seems something universal, but the uncommon thing is the characters' own recognition and conclusion. An ordinary story become extraordinary as one of in life's interpersonal lessons learned. Wasn't it a great poet who said you can't go home?

Isn't it Funny, life is like that, something becomes urgent, but urgency is rarely important, and important things are rarely urgent, yet can be. This is beautifully written Jesse, I don't think anyone hasn't experienced this, but not always.brought to attention, well done, good job, blessings Roy

Hello Jesse,
You've written an excellent poem on a theme not often embraced by poets.
I think distance in space or time is often the culprit, as experiences differ, so too, connection is lost in the empty spaces.
Excellent use of language in your free verse.
Well done.
Best wishes to you.

Hello Robert,
This is high praise coming from what I consider the best poet on this site. I am honored by your exceptional review and rating.
I agree with your summation of space and time being the culprit, as you say, experiences differ, and the connection is lost in the empty spaces.
Best wishes to you and yours.

This sounds like something to expect at a high school reunion. Some great phrases: conversational letdown; Awareness gathers dust; sarcastic mindfulness.

Thank you, my friend. I hadn't thought of that, but I think you are right. A High School reunion would sound similar to my poem.
Thank you for your kind remarks saying the phrases are great. It helps me to know how to hone my writing skills. Choosing your favorite phrases shows me you are a deep thinker and I love this.
Have a wonderful week!

The author's words are thought provoking, interesting, descriptive
and creative! Thank you for author's notes - they explain and compliment
your words well. The poem flows and connects well. The artwork is perfect and compliments both the theme and words of this poem.

Wow, this seemed really deep, and I'm afraid to interpret for fear I'll screw up your meaning. But I liked the wording of the poem and I loved the beautiful scenery as your artwork. Great job!

Good morning, Jesse!
One of your finest poetic offerings!
And how "spot on" is the content of your message!
I've been ensconced in conversations like you describe, and afterwards, I often shake my head wondering what the heck happened!
I enjoyed your form and paucity of words as well as your chosen words!
Well-crafted!
Thank you for sharing!

Jesse, wow! Yes and haven't we all had those life-long relationships that for long periods in between conversations it seems we just pick up where we left off and suddenly a time comes it just is awkward because life's paths become so divergent and then our conversations reflect a deep chasm creating by s shift of ones thinking.

Yes, I can so relate to what you have written about a deep chasm created by a shift in one's thinking! You see the depth in the poem I was going for and I thank you, kindly. So many interpretations and yours hit the nail on the head!
Best wishes to you.

Hey Jesse! I can SO relate to this poem. I guess I need more friends that share more of my life so we aren't always rushing off to different parts of life. Nicely written and well expressed.
