This is so beautifully written and speaks so much wisdom. Thank you. Your mother's story and how you came to see it are so touching and profound. The thread in the labyrinth is an archetypal image. Such great writing here! (Of course, the parolee may continue to bloom where he is planted.) Forgiving those who sin against us can be a long hellish process. But even when we do not seem to get there, I like to imagine that we are forgiven even for that. (But honestly, I have no idea how it really works.) Thank you for the awesome story!

I do understand what you're writing about. Yes, we must grow were we're planted. I lived by that as the Army sent us to interesting places to live and raise our family. LOL With God's help we can forgive horrible things that have happened to us. Thank you for sharing.

That was really good, Ann, and excellent advice for all. Reading this, I can now see what that poor victim is now doing to herself. I doubt she will ever go forward and leave yesterday where it belongs in the past. Many wicked men have reformed to become good people. Okay there are some that will offend again, but in this man's case? I think he would be a credit to society now. Well done, this was an interesting and uplifting story. :)) Sandra xx

The present moment is all that exists. You are bravely expressing profound, sometimes difficult, truth from your heart.
I have found the writings of John Powell, in his book, 'Through Seasons of the Heart' to be tremendously helpful - so much beauty and truth and wisdom. Some of his words truly speak for me: -
"Please think about the people in your life, people who are hurting, people who are not very loving, because they hurt too much inside. ............in the unexposed roots of these exteriors, there is only a cry of pain and the need to be understood and loved into life."

This is so true - we are responsible for our own happiness. In fact we are 100% responsible for our own happiness, once we come to understand that fact. Not many have come to this point of realization in their journey.
The present moment is all that exists. You are bravely expressing profound, sometimes difficult, truth from your heart.

from the tv show seemed more of personal decision than
one that should've been broadcast to all. So many say to
'they'll forgive, by never forget,' Not sure how that works either.
Your including the part about going to the basement
reminded me of what we call 'come to Jesus meetings.
