Love it! We all become worm food!!!! But that is the circle of life. Very witty, and turning death into a positive thing. The image selected is very apt and supports the message well. Win very well deserved!

Hi Wendy,
Congratulations on winning the contest! I think you've convinced me to be cremated when I pass on to the next life. I don't want worms crawling around, in and out, till I help a tree grow.
"Now sleep all you like - while the worms eat you ..." ...that's a horror movie!
Now, how can I eat any breakfast?
Hugs,
Kimbob

Ciao!

You have 13 votes now!

Just a few weeks ago I was reading about bio urns .

Ashes of a deceased are placed in a egg shaped urn and buried .. a tiny tree then is planted on top. The bio pod in time breaks and the ashes become nutrients for the growing tree directly above.

There are also now pods for actual corpse that are placed in the pod in a fetal position.

This was fun. I don't know about you but somebody dinged mine for talking about worm food. Cool picture you used to accompany your work. Good luck in the contest but it doesn't look like you'll need it.

Really?! That's odd to be pinged for it. It's meant to be witty, not taken too seriously. Thanks for reviewing - I appreciate it. I have found everything can change right at the end. (But I hope not, lol! Meanwhile yours is looking good too!)

Oh my goodness this is funny and rather macabre too. Certainly a witty and wild epitaph. This is unique Wendy and I reckon you have a good chance of winning the contest, love Dolly x

Wendy,
This is a cute mix of words and artwork for the prompt. Yes the decaying body may act as fertilizer for the greenery above it. And, that might be what someone may have wanted while his/her soul resides somewhere else.
Good luck with the prompt.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Joan

Thank you very much Joan. If it?s me then I?d better be in a public park or garden - my kids aren?t gardeners and the tree would die!! Lol. Thanks so much for reviewing. Glad you enjoyed it.

This witty epitaph, Food for Thought, leaves me wondering if the deceased was a big talker with no ambition, or someone who was physically unable to do what he/she dreamed. Reminds me of Poe's "Conqueror Worm".

Perhaps a big dreamer without the physical energy, due to illness. It?s open to both ways of looking at it however! I?ll check out that poem. Thanks so much for reviewing! I appreciate it.

I really liked this epitaph. My dad told me about burials, don't get buries cause the worms crawl in and the worms crawl out. We've all got worms anyway. Great presentation. Good luck. K xx

This is a witty epitaph, especially for someone like me who has a worm farm, though mine eat fruit and vege scraps LOL
Well done with this one Wendy and good luck in the contest. Cheers

Thank you Valda. I appreciate your super review. I will need carnivorous worms to help me push up a tree! I may as well be useful. Had a bit of fun with this one. Glad you enjoyed it.

Pretty long and wordy for an Epitath but it gets the point across. Kinda makes one a little concerned about what happens after that big darkness sets in.

I like it
