I like this. The tale of what those gnarled but strong hand have seen, endured, aided, and nurtured. They belong to people whose name will never grace a history book, but who stood behind so many others, lifting, cleaning and making 'living' possible.

Amen, they will never make a history book, but great things in history would not have happened without them. Thank you for reading and rating my poem.

This is such a wondrous
and eloquent poem that
touches my heart. A tribute
to the life of a person with
work worn hands. I ran out
of 6 stars a few days ago, as
this poem deserves 6. Many
blessings to you. ~

I am out of six-star ratings, but this deserves one. It makes one think of all the events, emergencies, and tasks those gnarled fingers may have performed. Thank you for posting.

By describing the activities of fingers, you have painted a detailed picture of a simple, hard-working woman reaching the end of her life. A delight to read. Kate xx

Hands indicate how dolefully has tolerated its owner they talk about the pains of the life that he/she has put behind, and no need to make use of language that may be sometime to distort the true story,
Deep and meaningful, I appreciate it very much,
Weldone.

I love that last line - so true! Hands seem to have a language of their own. Your description of the uses this old woman puts them to creates a vivid picture of her character. Very nicely done!

I love the descriptive details in this poem, such as "wash dishes chipped with age."
I also like the ending lines: "Gnarled
fingers
mirror a tranquil grace."

I agree with you. There is a timeless beauty that goes with aging working hands. Well done.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Sandra,

I like your poem very much. The sense of resolve, perseverance and contentment come out through the few words you have so wisely chosen. The snapping beans, dirty coveralls and long-chipped dishes tell an entire story. Well done.

Sue

This is beautiful. I must admit to a few gnarls in my fingers, along with wrinkled hands! This is a beautiful tribute to the work the work that's been done. I especially like the last line.

Thank you for reading my poem and rating it. My hands too look older. I guess it's time for us to mirror our tranquil grace. Thanks!
