So I find this story really interesting because it is relatable. I think race is something children are taught to identify by and with, because before that lesson comes about, they actually don't identify using race at all. I have had similar experiences with my children (who are very young), who use other examples to identify their friends. Thank you for sharing your story.

Great write!
This is honest writing written with a wise hand. The news seems to be getting worse everyday with no end in sight. My children were raised not to see color but to see people as they are. Thanks for sharing.

I know neither on of my children see colour, that's why the colour of the shirt was a strikingly wise analogy, when we raise our children to know see colour, we know the next generation is safe too, perhaps they can change the world, beautifully written, blessings Roy

This is the foundation of a good story. I agree with you, this world is in turmoil. Racism is a product of many generations and as you stated, parents and grandparents can diminish this hatred for future generations. GOOD LUCK IN THE CONTEST.

I enjoyed this essay for several reasons. It is very well-written and though brief, covers the topic thoroughly and concisely. The lessons to be learned from the described experience are clear and timely and well defined. The wording and the presentation are excellent. I hope it is widely read. It seems the media these days want us to notice color and so much is made of skin color when I have felt strongly for years that is a mistake. Most all of us are a mixture of several nationalities and each of us is unique. Why not accept that? Why must race ever be an issue? As MLK liked to point out, it is character that matters. I honestly believe most humans feel that way. Thank you so much for this excellent and thought-provoking contribution. I hope it does well in the contest. MM
