Resisting temptation

I love that the "overindulge" line rhymes with "battle of the bulge" - brilliant. Moderation's definitely the key. I tend to get individual packs of chips/crisps, not the big sharing bags, so they have less in them if that helps.

This temptation poem, Resisting Temptation, is the losing battle we all fight. The only way to beat temptation is to not give oneself the time or opportunity to indulge. Stay busy, close to helpful friends, and quit sweets so that natural and subtly sweet foods satisfy that urge.

Your poem says it all. I do try saving my treats for the weekend, sometimes it works, but more times temptation wins. You creatively presented how most of us feel. You inspire me to do better

I feel the pain whenever that soft spoken voice say "refrain." What for? Sooner or later like Bud Costello I am going to end up being " a bad boy."
Abbott and Costello comedy.

Oh man, just reading you writing about these things makes me want to go into the kitchen and find something, anything, to snack on. One of the hardest habits to control is over-eating. We can live without booze, we can live without smokes, we can live without drugs, but we cannot live without food. So, we will always be exposed to that temptation.
Good job

'Aint that the truth, fellow fatso! I just gotta have my treats too - potato chips, choccies, sweet cookies and desserts, junk food... oh yeah. Oh, darn, I can't get out of my chair.
Your fun-but-serious poem will be relatable to so many other sugar addicts.

I completely agree. "It's just so hard to say no" is a great (and true) line! Thank you for sharing your poem here. It's a great take on temptation.

Shucks, you might be the one for everyone to beat. The poem addresses the prompt precisely, down to the title. I saw only two typos. Over indulge should be written as one word with a hyphen~~over-indulge or as one word ~~overindulge. Personally I prefer the hyphenated way. In line 6, it should be I say. Good luck in the contest. It's a good poem.

I've often said I'd rather be fat and happy than skinny and miserable. Of course, the ideal is to me somewhere in the middle! I enjoyed your relatable poem.

This is true. It is so hard not to give in to temptation when it comes to eating too much of great food. I enjoyed reading your poem. Thank you for sharing this honest post. It is so hard to stay away from those kitchen cabinets and refrigerators.
