This is very profound. I hope you have shared this with your grandchildren. I'm sure the love you have for them shines through. Very nice job. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you Earl. I haven't shared it yet. Maybe after I die ....
Thank you for your good wishes. It is probably too long for most readers, but it's what I wanted to say. I enjoyed thinking about it and writing it.

I'm going out on a limb here and saying I am quite certain I'll be back to congratulate you on the win in this contest. Every word you've shared echoes what I would want to say to my own grandchildren ~ and I love that you begin with such a loving poem and remind them to circle back to reread it, as you close!
Nothing to change. No suggestions ~ other than submitting this to every publication you can think of!

Karenina your words mean so much to me! They are a wonderful validation of my writing. However I don?t think it will win because it is very long, and people won?t read it. Nevertheless it?s what is on my heart so I don?t want to leave anything out.
I am pleased it touched you - I always admire and respect both your writing and your insightful reviews.

I hope readers give it their time and consideration. It's a gem!

"Increasingly busy lives we will have decreasing time together."
Quite a thought. I used to have some deep-down resentment when my wife's daughter and her two kids were living with us and were always around. Now I miss those days so much I could cry.
Para 9: Perhaps a paragraph space at the end of that last sentence "...standing alone!"
Para 14, 1st sentence: "you your" remove "you"
Yes, we are all always learning. I wonder if any of us will ever get it right?
I really like your last line "...not necessarily with "things" -but with things that count." Couldn't be more truthful than that.
Very nice. I would have loved to have received a similar letter from my Grandma.

Thank you Gary for your thoughtful and insightful review and for picking up the typo. I have fixed that. And also adopted your suggestion of splitting the paragraph about the poster. I appreciate your time and thought.

This is an unusual, not generic structure. You successfully combined a poem with a short essay. Both of your works are well-written, heartfelt and moving. Well done and I wish you and your family a lot of luck :)

That was really lovely, and a message I'd like to leave my grandchildren. I've been so blessed and would like them to know it. You have given them ideals to work for, cherish and keep for their own children in the future. I like that. Very well done, and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra

Thank you for sharing such deep love for your grandchildren! Loved that you reassure them of God's unconditional love for them, and you remind them to honor their parents, as you express how deep your love for each of them is! Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you Helen! What a super review. Would you mind just letting me know if the presentation is okay on your screen? I had to move the poem down considerably to be under the photo, as the lines of the poem were otherwise in disarray if the poem was beside the photo. But one reviewer said there was a large space under the photo before the words of the poem began. (If you are too busy, don't worry ...)
Many thanks. I appreciate your lovely words and good wishes.

On my screen, it appears perfectly. I like the vari-colored poem and it's just the right distance below the picture.

Thank you very much! That's good.

I enjoyed reading this post. I would check your presentation. On my device there is big gap from where the photo ends and the poem begins. An easy fix. You did a great job with the prompt as this is a good contest entry that should do well. This is an intensely personal post. I applaud your honesty and openness. It takes courage to express pure emotions such as these.

Thank you for that. In my computer it is fine. I had to lower the poem as when I first posted it my image was small and half the poem was beside it and half below, but the lines of the poem were all in disarray. I?ll double check it again. Thanks for the heads-up and for your review. All are appreciated.

What a beautiful, beautiful, from the heart post. The love expressed was tangible and one could feel the deep desire that all of your children of your your children know what love feels like. Excelling contest entry. Good luck. ann

As a grandparent myself I endorse everything you laid out. We can be the vpbest parents that is possible for us, but we know inevitably that we lose that authority that we gently exerted on them when young, letting them go includes honouring their sovereignty in the governing of their own lives, "love keeps a gentle grip" is something I wrote when my children left home, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy
