As I've often said, when it comes to poetry, I wouldn't know a sonnet from sorbet. But I can darn sure understand and agree with everything you're saying. Gas prices the highest they've ever been, while the oil company profits have gone from a billion and a half dollars to almost 7 billion this last year. This is called criminal! And our own government isn't doing a thing to help. LOL. Thanks for sharing. After reading your first flash piece, I had to read something else.

thank you, Ric. The baby formula thing made me so angry - well everything this administration does, makes me angry, but this was the last straw. (though every day there's something else.)
Not only is our own government not helping, it's doing everything in its power to make things worse. And the border still remains open with all the millions of aliens ready to become instant citizens and vote for guess who.
Thanks again for your very nice comments.

If I ever wished I had a sixth star, it is right now, I mean NOW! Bravo my friend!
I watched the left fight our last leader from day one, and already then wasting our tax dollars on a phony impeachment hearing. In four years, between Nancy and Biden and many others, they made it hard for America to go forward. And back even farther where Biden was vice p to what? Babies having their necks snapped for 3rd trimester abortions to legalizing a marriage that was a slap in God's face.
I would imagine my friend that you may have taken some negative reviews for this, so I am here to say, good for you for standing up for what America used to be!
I too took some heat for my satire poem called Wizard of Os, as I used the democratic characters in my poem. If you haven't read it, you might get a kick out of it. Anyway thank you for saying what so many brainwashed people are afraid to say! Congrats on the perfect piece!!

It is sad what has happened to our USA, Mystery Author.
What once was a respectful, energetic country filled with
hopes has spiraled into an abyss. There is no leadership
in Washington from POTUS on down. You are right. How
much longer can this go on? With the lack of understanding
among so many and the lack of action to actually do something,
that is a scary answer. I like the way you formatted your lines,
the font used and color scheme, and the image (which isn't
too big considering the length of your entry's.
Best wishes, Jan

thank you Jan!! For the life of me, when I size pictures they don't
transfer to my FS posts the size I made them. I used to do it. No clue what I'm doing wrong.
Anyway, I'm glad you feel the same about our country, and I'd be willing to bet there are lots of Dems who've reached the same conclusion.

Right on point. Very timely. Extremely current and so, so correct. I cannot disagree with a single sentence in your entire piece. I don't want to be a name dropper, but we all know who must take over the helm as fast as he can or we are doomed.

I really liked your message and the delivery. Great job!

thank you so much, Gary. I think you-know-who did a fabulous job, but I also think he shot himself in the foot with his constant bragging which I think turned more people off than his name calling. From the research I've done, his support is dwindling. I am hoping DeSantis will run. Don't get me wrong, Trump was a great President and did more for this country than any president in our history, but if we think what the Dems are doing now is bad - and it should get them all thrown in jail, think what would happen if T got re-elected. Don't know about you, but I am ready for less stress.

I'm happy that I studied economics, although I was amazed at the process of trade between countries, it smacks a little of "mutual backscratching", but mostly things that affect price increases is emotion, but also sheer panic at some imbalance or other in the world, and governments have little control over these things, people are particularly emotional about money, which suggests something else, besides we aren't forced to vote, well done though, blessings Roy

Roy, I hate to disagree with you, but our government very definitely has something to do with price increases, with our weak standing in the world, with millions of illegals pouring into this country, with our poor economy, and for our President to ship pallets of formula to these illegals at the border while American mothers cannot find formula for their babies is a crime!
Nobody said we are forced to vote, but if Americans keep up with what's going on in this country and it scares them as it should, they had better vote. These people want socialism for America, Roy. I would think you, especially, would do anything to prevent that.

Hello!

The six star rating is well deserving! You have written the words that NEED to be read. I agree with your words whole heartedly. I have a piece on Janis Joplin that you should check out. I believe you would appreciate it. Thank you for sharing. Stay woke.

I give you a standing ovation on this message. This is happening at an alarming rate. Prices sky high. And so many people live in the street. People steal whatever they can. Many are taking advantage of not working.
People off work do not want to return to work. We are in a rut. Thank you for posting.

Thank you, Carolyn. You are right, though I think what we're in was planned. What did Biden think would happen with American mothers with babies when he cleaned the shelves of formula and sent it all to the border for the illegals????? If that's not planned, I don't know what is. But I truly appreciate your very nice comments!

This is a good piece, obviously written with passion. Writing is a great way to vent frustrations and explore various feelings. On that end of it, I understand its point and commend you for voicing your opinion.

On the other end, it seems a bit more like yelling than actual poetry. I understand it's free verse, but even that generally has some sort of restraint, artistic flow, and/or lyrical formula. My suggestion is to keep all the words as they are, but maybe reduce the font size by one point, and save the italics for what you have written in capitals.

You'll still get your point across, but it won't sound like you're screaming at the reader.

heavens, didn't mean to scream at the reader. So many of us need bigger print for old eyes...
but thanks for the advice. will do.

Even with the slightly smaller font, it?s much easier to read now because the individual lines fit better. It looks less crowded and loud. I?ll go back and change my rating to five. Even though I don?t agree with a word you said, lol. ;) I?m sure you?ll get plenty of votes in the contest though.

    Take care,

Thank you Erika! I appreciate that. With the news covering the things I talked about, I would be interested in what you disagree with and why if you feel like it. I promise you I speak the truth.
reply by Erika Seshadri on 13-May-2022
Well, I guess my main disagreement is the idea that one person (i.e., a president) can be personally responsible for pretty much everything that?s going wrong in the country. I didn?t like Trump. I?m not fond of Biden. But If you look at news stations like CNN and FOX, they spend most of their time blaming every single ill of the country on whichever president they dislike, and fail to take into account what?s happening worldwide to influence problems in the United States. For example, so many people gave Trump a horrible time about how he handed the corona virus, but there were hundreds of people behind the scenes telling him all sorts of different things during an unprecedented time in history. How he reacted was a combination of many, many factors and difficult situations. To blame him solely for something like the high rate of deaths, or whatever else, would be extremely flawed. Same goes for Biden. Let?s take the example of high gas prices. There are numerous circumstances that create constant fluctuations in gas prices. Despite what American news stations say, a president has very little to do with gas prices. I stopped watching American news channels years ago, and have never felt more free and happy. American media is toxic. It breeds obsessive amounts of unhappiness and hatred. I actually get my news headlines from different parts of the world, like India. You?d be surprised to find how much stations like CNN and FOX focus on sewing distrust and hatred between people of their own countries. It?s sad, really. I refuse to buy into that form of misery. I think, as humans, no one can really help what they believe, and most of us are just trying to do the best we can. I prefer to try and focus on what?s going good rather than what?s going bad. Otherwise, the anger will eat you alive from the inside. That?s not a pleasant way to live.

You're right about anger eating you up. I try to stay hopeful for November, but if we can't depend on the integrity of our voting count, all the hoping in the world want change things. It is a sad and maddening state of affairs.
    Thanks for your comments!!

This is not a poem. It should be posted non fiction as an editorial. A good example of a well reasoned rant. Please write more about this. I did enjoy this piece

You don't think it could be free verse? I've seen several similar pieces.
I'm glad you liked it. I have written many with the same message - more a plea (I'd hoped) than a rant, but guess it is, partially.
