This is hilarious, Tom! I wish you put this in the Non-Fiction or Share Your Story contest. Loved your humor and absolutely agree with you that it was NOT normal and I could feel your discomfort. I think Mr. Rogers would have scared off Alexei by singing to him and bringing out his puppets and asking him to teach the puppets about massage.
Suggestions:
Did you ever watch Mr. Rodgers' Neighborhood on television? (Roger's)
Fred Rodgers (Rogers) ditto for the next three or four times. ð???
maybe teachers aide (teacher's aide)

Just let me know if you don't want the edit information, Tom. Sometimes the content is all writers want comments on. That certainly was a odd and memorable experience ! I still wonder about new Russians in Alaska as our country is so close to Russia there. But Russians left their mark on Alaska for sure. Loved learning about the Orthodox priest Father Veniaminov/St. Innocent.

No, I don't want you to stop with the editing info. I don't want to let something stay out there that shows my ignorance any more than I can help it. It's like when your friend needs to wipe his nose, but you don't want to embarrass them by mentioning anything, but if you don't they will gross out everyone they come in contact with. That being said, I appreciate your taking enough interest in my work to help me with it. I'm afraid I'll always be in need of some assistance; if I don't try your patience, I'd enjoy the help. Sometimes neighbourly relationships can be a delicate transaction, and your tongue-in-cheek, alleged KGB agent sounds like one of those overbearing types that needed to managed with kid gloves.
Thank goodness the family decided to move along, or I suspect you would've had a few more of those overly-rough massages.
A great story here, and it reads very authentic to what I would guess to be the environment of Alaska.

Thanks so much for the fine review and comments. I believe he was truly trying to pay me back for the use of the tools, but I didn't really appreciate his kindness. It's hard to tell big Russian guys no. Alaska is unlike most places in the world. In many instances it's like stepping back in time to the old west or some such thing.

This is a true story that happened to me. It wasn't something that I wanted, nor would I ever want to experience it again. I'd never had a massage before that, nor since. I don't want strangers putting their hands on me, and especially not other men. I like a good handshake and that's enough for me. Thanks for commenting.
