I enjoyed this post very much.
Your writing is so descriptive that I felt a part of the poem. I could hear the traffic and see the colors, smell the spices. Sensory details are effective here. You did a creative job with the prompt, thanks for sharing.

Excellent entry for the These Words writing prompt contest. You did add graphic - joy - death - spice as asked in the rules. The theme was interesting and was easy to understand. I would recommend it.

You had me at The Appeal of Tangier. I was born in Tangier but I moved to Spain at two weeks old so unfortunately I don't have any recollection. I would like to visit some day. You explained the trip so well it was easy to be transported there. You got my vote.
Good luck in the contest.

Mystery Poet, you've done it! I completely forgot to look for the required words because your poem took me out of myself and this place to a vacation of bright sunny skies and things I'll never see except on the travel channel. Of course, I was reminded of the hipsters et al, who probably also lead lives of quiet desperation, but it was good to leave them behind for a while. So many phrases I want to hold onto here: Room nine; Phoenician tomb; shadowed side streets filled with sex and death. Masterful! Thanks!

This poem has captured the awe, the essence, the colours, spices, dangers, intrigue, sights, sounds, beauty of Tangier.
Your poem vividly recalls street fare, life, vitality, the places, the foods, tastes and aromas of Morocco.

Lovely poem celebrating the bled, country of Morocco and a city of historical and cultural significance.
Loved it! So much!

I won't even check for the words being mesmerized by the scene described herein of Tangiers, bartok, and held weaved rugs. I believe I can smell the spices hanging in the air. Very well-done piece of verse.

Fine free verse that embraces, and enfolds the required words without a hiccup. I was lost in your reverie--taking in the sights and sounds and the "noise of negotiation."

I hope I am back to congratulate you on the win!

Hello Mystery Writer, I enjoyed this poem that was like a stream of consciousness. And oh, boy, did you take me back with your reference to William S. Burroughs. I lived about 30 minutes away from him in the 90s. I never bothered him, but always imagined what it would be like to hang out with him. My friend and I referred to him as crazy gramps. We were stupid then, but yeah. Thanks for the rewind. Ha! Nuts.

This is indeed a graphic poem with every detail beautiful illustrated. I envisioned myself on that patio viewing the sailboats and smelling the salt in the air and longed at that moment to be there. This is a very well written in the moment poem. Enjoyed much

You not only created a poem with the words, you also wrote a story. This is a creative writing and I love the artwork you attached to the poem. I see it is a contest entry so I wish you all the luck in the world.
