Hi there,
I liked this one as well. it shows a life's journey, with regrets, longing and a sense of being done.
Theres no one here to hold my hand, - There's.

A beautiful poem. I could easily relate these emotions with my parents, though they are in their 80s. Thanks for sharing. All the best to you.

What a glorious mix of fondness and melancholy, just as any good sonnet should be. You've hit the iambic rhythm beautifully and I very much enjoyed reading this piece. No notes or room for improvement.

An excellent poem from every perspective Jay. I love your honesty and the wisdom living long has given you. You continue to be such a blessing to us here and I know the same must be true for all who know you. Your rhyme and meter are flawless and your words full of passion and meaning. I love this poem.

Hello Jaybird, as always, your poem is heartfelt. Of special note:
Theres no one here to hold my hand,
to hear regrets, or battles won,
or show me that they understand
(It is sad when no-one can or cares to relate to your stories of life, but here in FSland, we wait for your poems of life. We love them. We love your writing. Keep writing because we're interested and waiting to hear your pearly words of wisdom.)
Keep the blue waters flowing, and keep on going. LateBloomer

Jay, thank you for the wisdom you share with us. Yu're a little older than my folks would be. I always think of them as I read your work and am so grateful that we have you!
I love this bittersweet poem. I know it must be lonely. But God still has stuff for you to do here. I think we are part of your flock. :)
Blessings,
Deb

This poem is brilliant and so true. It sort of reminds me of my poem, "To Make it Home." You have done an amazing job with this, and I especially love the last line, "My road is short, not far to go."

I feel you partner. My road is short also. I was born in 1949 so you should feel pretty fortunate. The Lord has given you your 70 years plus., plus. He has given me my 70 now I just wait.
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Psalm 90:10
Sounds like a lonely lament though.
Good job.
