What a creative poem!! I didn't expect the end. Well done. I believe a good poem is one where it's like you're on boat and you don't know what to expect from the currents and crashing waves, making it an unexpected adventure. :) Thank you for this. May your pen continue to be blessed.

Very endearing poem, children will gravitate to and parents would love to read, ad-libbing their own sound effects mind you, along with your well-crafted piece. I can hear childrens laughter to the comedy and adventure built into your writing.

Great characters in your poem, playful. Lovely movement, dialogue and action. Sparkling contrasts like: skinny tongue vs. wide-mouthed frogs. Very delightful read. Loved it, loved it.

This is a really cute poem for Mother's Day, Liz. I like the picture that goes with it too. I'm glad mother frog got away from that snake! Well done..

Thank youfornyour delightful review. One of my friends loved to tell it back in the 70's. When you ask the question you say it as wide-mouthed as possible & at the end, you make your mouth as tiny as possible. Kids love the antics.

This is a very sweet picture and an interesting poem as the wide-mouthed frog takes her survey. It's a good thing she pursed her lips. No more wide mouth. Very smart frog.

This made me smile. When we were young we used to have a joke, where to the one who said he ate wide-mouthed frogs, she pursed her lips and said "ooh, you don't see many of those around these days, do you?"

Yes, this is a shortened version of the one you are referring to. I'd forgotten the whole response you have remembered. My excuse is it was back in the 70's, about 49 years ago. lol

Bravo for the little frog mother, Liz.
I enjoyed reading your club poem.
I like the inquisitiveness of the mother
frog. In the end, she is smart like all
mothers and protects and cares for
her family. I like your fun approach
to the prompt.
Respectfully, Jan

This was truly inspiring, Liz. I really enjoyed the picture of all the mamas and their little ones, it was so delightful. It was rather inspiring that she approached each mama to determine what the little ones ate. Until the last, from which she wisely chose to flee and feed her little ones.

You are so welcome, Liz. Gosh darn, I will be away from Wednesday morning until Sunday night or early Monday morning for a trip to Atlanta, Georgia but I will watch for it.

OH my gosh!

""Ooooh thet's noice."

Talk about a survival instinct! I'm grinning ear to ear...which is perfectly fine as I'm not a wide-mouth frog and there is no mommy snake lingering!

Too clever! My husband us grinning!

Lol! That is a clever take on the picture! We forget that some of these momma animals are ones that feed on the other momma animals. Good that the frog momma knew when to skedaddle out of there!
