Thank you for sharing this amazing woman with us in this contest entry. And even more special, she's your daughter. We don't hear enough about amazing women. I, too, am a mother of boys, four. I understand what it takes to accomplish everything she has. She's in my prayers. Good luck with the contest.

What a sweet homage to a daughter. Any mother with a growing daughter can appreciate the sentiments behind this poem. I'm sure Julie finds it very moving to read. I can absolutely sense the pride of the author and the devotion to her child.

I love this. It paints a picture of a vibrant young girl turned young woman, through the eyes of a loving mom. I could really 'see' her. Plus I love the rhythm of the poem and rhyming structure - it works so well!

Janet, This is a very beautiful and well written rhyming poem about your lovely daughter and her accomplishments and what she means to you. You used very good descriptive and very loving words. You have a reason to be proud of her. Happy Mothers Day Sunday my friend! love and blessings, Teri

A lovely celebration of your daughter. She is described so well by her contradictions and accomplishments. You are indeed a lucky mom. I wonder only about the word "forged".... did you mean "forded" ?
forged = copied fraudulently; fake. OR to create with a lot of hard work, hoping that it will be strong or lasting (like forged steel).
forded = The act of crossing a shallow place in a body of water, such as a river, where one can cross by walking or riding on an animal or in a vehicle.

Thank you K for your thoughtful and encouraging review. I hear you with the word "forged" and I understand your point. However, I was going with the definition of forge as a verb.
    1. To advance gradually but steadily: forged ahead through throngs of shoppers.
    2. To advance with an abrupt increase of speed: forged into first place with seconds to go.
I considered changing the word to avoid any confusion but I really like the visual of Julie forging ahead and sometimes going against the odds.
    Hope all this makes sense.
Blessings and have a good afternoon.

Yes, I forgot about this other way of using forged (as in forged ahead).

It is always a joy when someone else celebrates the accomplishments of our children. But I daresay that when we do it in the way that only a proud and loving parent can. It means so much more. The love a parent has and displays to their child is a gift more precious than silver or gold. Ask any child that grew up without it, and you will find that a large and important piece of their life is sadly missing. Congratulations.

Beautiful poem. It was more than a rhyming poem- it had a story or milestone in each stanza. It was meaningful and of course, your picture made it real. This was special and clearly written from the heart. Very nice job!

This is such a beautiful, moving poem--a great tribute to your daughter,
through the use of specific details. Your poem is also very skillfully written. Our children become even more precious when they give us grandkids!
