You seem to me to be familiar. Your style is reminds ne somewhat of me, with a tis, alas and tween. a bit of olde English maybe. I mimic William every now and then just because I enjoy it.

    Smiling.
    You have reviewed me before.
I enjoy ur take, your gut neurosis.
And, there are no rules with free-verse. We are the word-smiths. We substitute, arrange, change, as we see fit. And you should never change.

The poem shows empathy for someone who has fallen on hand times. There seems to be some hope at the end.
You use line breaks well in this free verse poem
Keep writing and stay healthy

    Thank you, Joan.
I actually reflected upon the line breaks in this poem as I wrote it.
Amazing you picked up on this.

    Thank you,

I enjoyed reading your poem. What bothers me about the children of today is I feel they are being pawns for society and that's a very bad thing because they haven't had enough life experiences to know or understand it.

    I agree, dear.
As I have said before, I am grateful you were a teacher
    for all those years.

Whatever's going on in the world, doesn't make me me terribly sad, I simply add a prayer and carry on, it's the kids, and they way they're treated, bothers me a little, they become part of the awful things going on, beautifully written Doug, blessings Roy

This is a very thought-provoking poem. It feels a bit light-hearted to me. But I liked that about it. Popcorn between the scenes, I like that line. While you might be right about only a strut. Maybe it is how we strut that matters. Good job. Terry.

How we strut. Yes, could be.
However, the more I learn, the older I become, the less my strut seems. Yet, when younger, it was all, eh?

There's a nice airy feel to this poem, as it wafts you along the street like a leaf blowing in the wind. All these images of society, politics, swirling around you, and yet it all seems strangely insignificant, only a peripheral or superficial sheen on the stuff of life. It's subtle and powerful in its subtlety. I think the images come across as being chosen with great care to create this overall effect. Nice job in imagination and construction...estory

Ah, my friend. It has been a while
since my poetry has evoked a confirmation from you, eh? I mean not to be an ass. It's just when you assign a six to my work, I bask in an eerie glow of satisfaction.

    Thank you,

Very clever way of expressing how ruminations can be either negative of positive. Yes, they can be, but remember during the ruminations of the past or the future yet to come, you are the author of the story and the editor of the past. Happy writing.
