An important focus on a major problem in society.
" Rumination is sometimes referred to as a 'silent' Mental health problem because it's impact is often underestimated. But it plays a big part in anything from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) to eating disorders
The impact of mental health problems is huge.
Using narcotics relieves the repetitions and provides a temporary oasis, before you surface into the quagmire of dismay, with two equally unacceptable perils closing in.
People are characterized as sinners, none escape.
An unbroken circle of negative energy.
No one questions the apparent reality.
No periods have diminished intensity; proposed alternatives provide no shelter.
Fighting the mental health tiger of arbitrary standards set by others is futile. The energy is misdirected.
Refocusing is necessary to understand that the false standards of others have no hold on the human soul, mind, or spirit.
Enlightenment:
"Make no mistake about it, Enlightenment is a destructive process.
It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier.
Enlightenment the crumbling away of untruth.
It is seeing through the facade of pretense.
It's the complete eradication of everything we imagine to be true."

A thought provoking and real life rumination with a fantastic ending line. Yes all this is but a strut across the stage. If we can keep that in mind, we can get to the popcorn between the scenes.

This poem is thoughtful and thought-provoking. One point that stands out is that all who live must expect some degree of oppression and judgment.
To me, the poem conveys a somewhat jaded attitude about life. Your attitude is none of my business. :-)

You did a great job describing the ups and downs of life--the good, the bad, and the ugly. I like the short lines--they read at a quick pace just as life seems to be moving in this well written poem. It seems while one is 'in' a certain point of life things aren't noticed or as bad as they really are until much later when looking back.

Yes, my friend, we both know this as truth. For, it is. Yet, we will emerge on the other side of veil.
This I know. Quite a statement, eh? Yes. But age alone has not shown me this for certain. Only two exceptional, undecipherable, experiences.
The fence-sitter now ascertains
his trepidity and still proclaims
not what man says as truth, but what has come undeniably.
