Thanks for sharing the semblance of a picnic with us; it is such an exhilarating piece of work, most especially, the array of flowers and animals illuminated in it.

It is more so of a picnic for Alexandra, who like her Mom appears to enjoy both the company of Cord, Rosa, Jim and the burgeoning array of flowers and animals.

The work earns its texture through its effective use of anecdotes reminiscent of life spent in a livestock farm; with slight manoeuvres into horticulture.

Excellent work. Bravo.

I love the sprinklings of Spanish, Barbara, it's been 8 years since I lived in Spain, so it's good to know I can still read the language.
I don't think Jorge is very happy with Cord. Of course, he's going to feel angry, he's been a hard worker all his life, and to be warned about his health doesn't sit well with him. I enjoyed the ride out with Rosa and Ali, it sounds such a pretty place. Another lovely chapter, my friend. :) Sandra xx

I'm starting to detect a bit of pridefulness in Jorge. He wants to make sure that Cord accepts his (Jorge's) preeminence in the household. Machismo!

Cord grabbed her, blocking her fall. [Consider prefacing this with some mention that Cord was there. Especially after Rosa saying she would be there if Ali needed help ... all of a sudden Cord is there]

"Cord, what's blessed in Spanish?" [might want to italicize "blessed". I thought he meant what sort of things are blessed in Spanish.]

Add anything, I forgot. [Don't need the comma after "anything".]

This story is proving to be as much fun as the prior story "Football." I am so pleased that not only have you retained your touch, your creative hand is steady and you are providing as much entertaining reading as ever. Please continue to do so.

Your six for the week, Madam. You did a great job, and I can feel it heating up between Codero and Alex, but at this point they are in denial. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Shirley

Another great chapter. Still a good read. Always looking forward to where this is all going. Were you or are you fluent in Spanish? If you remember Sasha, I talk to the folks who were looking after her in Mexico. Thanks to Google Translate. No spags.

The story is going well. The pace is good. The characters are becoming more full. The language is appropriate to the setting. The images are crisp.

Thanks for a good read.

Jorge sounds like an incredibly proud man, but life and health tend to walk hand in hand with life, and have an affect on one eventually, as Jorge will find out. Rosa discovers that Alexandra blushes every-time she mention Cord, beautifully written Barbara, , blessings Roy

Hi Barbara, I liked this chapter a lot, and, of course, it being about horses I was taken in at once.
Only one little, but important thing. As the foal is a she, it cannot be Bendecido. It has to be the feminine form, Bendecida. It's just plain grammar in the Spanish language. Ulla:)))

You have moved the story along very well with dialogue. I like the part:
"Thank you, but your mom and I've discussed that I need to learn to get on and off a horse by myself."
He shook his head. "Darn. I was enjoying helping you."
Guess he's been found out.
