Interesting. Non-fiction. Still have a motor home. Only line that perplexes me is "he fell in love with Massachusetts first, on his first day there."
How and where did that come to be?

From the 2nd paragraph: "Monroe loved Mass from the moment they entered. As she drove through her little town of Duxbury, just next door to Plymouth, he remarked to her, "You grew up on a "Currier and Ives" post card! This place is beautiful and quant and all that other neat stuff!" So, I did fall in "en Mass", Duxbury, from the first day. Restraint of word limit kept me from describing more. Thanks for checking in. Or, maybe you know Mass and are not so taken. Fair enough,

I have visited Mass four time. Boston is neat. Mystic caught my attn in the eighties, Chatham most recently in September as we stayed with friends on the Cape for a wedding in NH. Anthing coastal is marvelous, save for P-town. It has no allurement for me. Also, had a friend in Truro that I visted in the late sixties. Surface fished and won "the big fish" on a 1/2 day outing. Worth a Mitchell reel and fiberglass pole. Still have both.

What a beautiful, but exciting road of dreams for these two, It seemed to take a while for him, but the distance between them was enough to spark that forever fire, that appears that she felt much sooner than he did. I love that he saw that they were meant to be, and asked her to marry him. I do love that they continued on that even with adult children. Sounds like it's a happy forever after relationship.

We who have been married for a very long time understand that real life is not ALWAYS happy, but real love overcomes those moments. Actually, true story, at our 35th anniversary dinner, I thanked her for the years, the daughters, the good times, but that I was going to leave her. She did not ask "why", she asked "when"? "As soon as I find a redhead who owns a liquor store, I am out of here" I said. We are now at our 44th - and she's been helping me look! Thanks for stopping by our place. Happy Easter.

I love your extra part to the story, and that she knows you well enough to say she'll help you look.

My father often used the phrase, "a blessing in disguise." I live it every day. Happy Easter!

What an excellent story you have shared. It's a love story as well as a life story. You did a wonderful job, and I didn't see any errors. Good luck in the contest, and have a wonderful evening. Shirley

So glad you liked my tale! It mirrors the joy I have had with old whats-her-name over the years and in our motorhome. I also think, for many people, we may not realize how important somebody is until we are not with them. So, while it was not exactly my life, the idea came from my life - and, my wife. I have to give her some credit or my life becomes more complicated. That is "real life". Thanks for the visit.

You have done a great job with the writing prompt. This was most definitely a roundabout road to your character's dream. Nicely done. I wish you all the luck in the world in the contest.
