Your poem reminds me of the phrase waking to sleep. It's such a lovely and encouraging poem to be fearless and to really live.

I love these lines the best:
"Seasons of life pass from cradle to grave,
Memories, like dreams are so often unsaved."

Thank you for sharing your poem.

Melody, I really love your poem. The sleepwalkers and blind sheep metaphors make me think of people with their nose in social media all day. Great job on a super subject.
Cheers,
John

I'm glad you enjoyed my poem, John. I think so many people miss out on truly enjoying life because they stay in a trance-like state most of the time - auto pilot, if you will. My intent was to shine a light on this phenomenon & wake people up to really living life to the fullest. Thanks for the high rating!

This is a nice poem with some beautiful images in it such as 'And time, like a waterfall onward flows,' - it's a classic for a reason I guess.

I'm probably one of the slumbering souls you referred to, being a fan of sleep. Thanks for sharing

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my poem, Oliver. I too am a fan of sleep, and I too am guilty of letting time go by without truly seizing the special moments in life. I appreciate your kind comments & compliments on the classic nature of this topic. Thanks for the five-star rating!

My Granddaughter has been known to sleepwalk and it is a strange phenomenon. It is true that we cannot seem to save our dreams as they disappear the moment we wake up, a poignant write, love Dolly x

Hi Dolly & thanks for reading and commenting on this poem. There are many illusive things about sleepwalking and dreams that intrigue me. My intent here was to capture the essence of those fleeting moments that so often disappear after we experience them. I had a childhood friend who was a sleepwalker and oh, the funny stories she told about waking up in strange places & not knowing how she got there! Thanks too for the high rating.

This is so powerful and true. Many people seem to forget life does not last forever. Our days are numbered. You must make the best of life while you have a chance.

So true, Carolyn. So true. I think part of why I wrote this piece was to remind myself that life is precious, and the moments that define us in life are not to be ignored. As a recent retiree from the corporate world, I have to remind myself that, "life begins (again) at age 60+). It's not over until our appointed time, but until then, we should live it to the fullest! Thanks for the 5-star rating!

Yes, in the book I know that says we have only one life to live, the Bible, it says it is appointed to man, once to die, and then the judgement, yes it's true. Beautifully written in rhyming couplets, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy. I agree with all of your points. I am very familiar with those passages of scripture and mindful that our time on this planet is finite and fleeting. The best thing we can do is make the most of it while we are here! Thanks for reading, commenting and the excellent rating!

Great rhyming and easy to read. Your words are so true, about the way some people go through life. They miss so much. I like your advice at the end: "Live life while you can - eyes wide open, without fear."
