If you describe someone as an illustrious person, you mean that they are extremely well known because they have a high position in society or they have done something impressive. The last sentence makes you a common person.

Not sure if this is true for you but it is for me. Quite different than when I could leap tall buildings and out speed a speeding bullet. I wonder how Superman fared when he lost his hair?

A clever poem because of the layers of meaning. There is no credit in winning, (crossing the line first) if the person has "crossed the line" of integrity to do so. Also, it seems that one could well come last because the illustrious pasts of others give them an unfair advantage. Or, if the person himself crossed the line of integrity he may well come last, because there is no illustrious past to get him out of trouble. It's very thought-provoking, and skilful to get all those layers within 25 words and have rhyme as well.
Maybe i'm reading too much into it....

This is an excellent entry for the twenty five word contest
with the nice addition of all the rhymes.
I guess the person weren't doing quite as fine as thought
to come in last, but at least they finished
which is an accomplishment in itself.

This reminds me of some viewers on this site. Grammar and spelling checkers have caused me havoc. Sometimes after submitting my post, I will get terrible views. I am not perfect. Then, I will search and edit. I find words repeated, or misspelled words. I do not mind someone offering advice, however, some people go overboard. Thank you for your great post.
