Ciao mystery poet , you have 4 votes now.
I certainly did enjoy your story. Yes first loves hold a special place in people s lives.
You had me hooked straight from the start .. him leaning on the pole , you eyeing him and feeling special cause he took interest in you.
Great description.
My 14-year old mind had been hijacked by this 13-year old Don Juan.
It's a shame you drifted apart .. or maybe it's a blessing .. you write that he married several times..
I m glad you are back corresponding .. I feel you have a great friendship going.
One of my all time favourite films is My Girl.
That's the vibe I got reading your delightful story ( without the tragic ending of course).
Ciao!

This is a sweet poem! The rhyme and rhythm work well for the topic and have a pleasing effect.
You said you are from South Eastern Ohio... Anywhere near Steubenville? Two of my kids live in Weirton, and I live about 20 minutes over the border in Pennsylvania.
Great poem! Have a wonderful day.

He certainly made an impact on you as a first love and maybe you will still become a couple. Who knows. Your long and detailed poem shows in many ways how much he meant to you and why. Best wishes for your entry.

Comment from Gypsy Blue Rose
Excellent entry for the Love writing prompt contest. The theme is compelling and engaging.
Your poem story is very romantic, even more because it's true. I still remember my first love. He lives in Spain and I live in America. I looked for him on Facebook but couldn't find him.
Good luck in the contest.

Wow! Thank you, Gypsy Blue Rose. I am glad that you were able to connect with my writing. Its hard to describe the feelings when you reconnect after 40 years even if they are married. I appreciate you sharing your story.
Comment from John Ciarmello
This is a great story. I often wonder what happen to my first love, or for that matter if I ever had one. If I did, they obviously did not make an impression the way your Dannie did. Nicely written!

Great story. Who can forget their first love, even though that first love usually does not last. I married my third one (I think). The ones between the first and last are always a little hazy.

Wow! Thank you for the vote of confidence. It is so easy to write about the things that either bring us extreme pain or joy. Truly this always brings a smile to my face. Again, thanks for your thoughtful commentary.

This poem is well written and enjoyable to read. There is nothing like your first love that is for certain. You did a nice job recreating that feeling. Your descriptive words added emotion to your writing.
