"An Ode to Dannie Gene" is a very directly expressed recogition of the suddenness with which first love can occur, and its power. Innocence can be a glow that it present in our lives, but it is terribly vulnerable and once damped the glow will thereafter only flicker. However, this poem celebrates the writer's first love without regrets, and her innocent and whelming infatuation reminds one of his or her first exalted love.

I remember my first love very much, but she dumped me, twice, the second time 8 years after the first dumping, then she dumped me again, I have never seen her since. This is quite moving, and beautifully written my friend, it was a great post, excellent, good luck, blessings Roy

Wow! Roy, believe it or not. I did dump him once and that is the first thing he reminded me of when we reconnected 41 years later on Facebook. His memories are sometimes more vivid than my own. We truly respect and love each other. Thanks for your insightful commentary and for sharing your story!
