Mermaids,
You handle free-verse poems adeptly; your images are so clear. And you do it without the constraints characteristics of a rhyming poem.
I like the chemistry between the mermaid and the sea monster; it's the vulnerable leaning on the strong character.

I love the saying with your portfolio about the unicorns. I believed in unicorns, fairies, and mermaids when I was much younger. I don't know, maybe I still believe. Sometimes it's better than reality. Nicely done.

This poem speaks well of companionship, even for the water world. You might be able to find a photo that could be used with your poem. I also think it might look more balanced if it were centered.

creative. I found the author's words were able to convey a vision

This reads as a bit of 'Beauty and the Beast' for me. A friendship that doesn't require any more than "being there" for one another. She seems to rely on his strength - he on her warmth that radiates through his toughness.
