I hardly ever give six stars to free verse, but this one is so well done that I have to do it. This poem flows very nicely, and using an inanimate object as the speaker was very original.

Well! Thanks so much! Every now and then the muse just runs away with the words...and I scurry after them. Your six-stars are greatly appreciated! Karenina

This is a lovely piece, and I'm now interested to know, have you ever found these beautiful gems on a beach? And if so, where? Amethyst is so attractive, but I had no idea it could be found so readily.

Ah, not amethyst, the gem...but amethyst colored sea glass... Often referred to as a "reverse gem"--as it begins as bits of broken bottles in the sea...tumbled, smoothed, an burnished by the waves and sand until it adorns the shore in many colors...the rarest of these in my parts being the amethyst hue. I have been collecting sea glass for decades...ambers, blues, browns, blues...the most common greens and clear...and the prized amethyst hue! I have decanters filled with them around my home...
Thanks for asking!

Thank you kindly for that explanation, Karenina. I can imagine how beautiful they must be.

In the eye of the beholder and all of that...
I prefer sea glass, myself!

Thank you, karenina. I am still oblivion away in terms of expression and proper expression at that. I would like to learn through appreciating all those who are here. Wonderful expressiveness in all that I have read. Thank you for your encouragement!

There ate magic ad l moments when the words seem to write themselves...
There is nothing to be done but write, write, wtite!

Indeed you are right, true to the nature of the seeker, whose ways are never the way it seems.

My daughter and I have had the pleasure of finding sea glass in Bermuda. Often they are pieces from medicine or liquor bottles carried on ships from centuries ago. It's like touching a piece of history - time worn and full of mystery. As humans, we are much the same. Time worn and full of mystery - just waiting for that special person to show an interest in us...I enjoyed the sentiments captured in this lovely poem.

Yes, June. Yes! Exactly that! Pieces of history, bits of shattered dreams and detritus, spun and dragged through a sea of redemption, baptized across the arc of improbability-- when we hold such beauty in our hands it becomes unclear how we ever doubted God's blessing! Thank you!

Hi Karenina how gorgeous are your words and could also be a metaphor for finding someone special. A really lovely poem worthy of high praise.
Well done Cheers Chris

In my opinion, another 'Exceptional' poem by this wordsmith artist, honoring the waters of the sea for its gift - in beautifully written free verse form - the presentation stunning in its entirety...

I'm a bit delirious over the response to this poem, birthed as it was through arduous labor! I could not be happier that you found this worthy of your lovely words and your "stellar" gift!
Thank you so much,
Karenina

I loved this. It really made me think of the nature of love and how it's like the sea glass. How two people can be brought together through random, chaotic forces like the sea glass and the result is now finding something beautiful. Well done!

Thank you R.B.
There is this curious bit of magic that happens when the muse, the Holy Spirit, and the epiphany of love dance in a trinity of free verse. I'm not at all sure if I wrote this poem...or if the poem wrote me.
I am overjoyed that you found some value in it, and oh my, six stars in addition! I'm twice blessed.
Thank you! Karenina

I waited until I had a sixth star for this. Just an amazingly written poem. Just a poet's poem. I actually feel this is one of your best, when taking in literacy at a most beautiful level. Light as air, it relaxes with the variation of thoughts, yet delivered to its target as a whole.
Well done.
My best wishes.

Where are the words that exceed thank-you?
Lost in the ethereal mist, I fear.
To have elicited this response from you,
it must surely be one of my best!
My very best wishes to you as well.
I'm honored.

I have to give you a six for this beautifully well-written and very descriptive piece of giving the personification of the amethyst sea glass. It is a treasure to read and remember.

I really enjoyed the pictures presented by the personification of the amethyst sea glass. I liked the bits of alliteration and other literary devices scattered through the lines of this pretty poem.

Hello Verna,
