And that was the way sandlot baseball was, even in the concrete jungle of Chi-town I suppose. Banks, Santos and Billy Williams vs Aparicio, Fox and Tito Francona. Not telling my age but they were playingback then.

How about Gus Zernial and Al Zarilla? Those were good days, even though the Sox didn't win much and who could forget the Cubs collapse of 1969. Thanks for the read and review.

I loved this read! Sounds like a beauty glimpse back in time to the days when things were a bit more simple. No cellphones, kids played outside in the dirt and got there on BMX bikes! Oh man I miss those days.
Thanks for the reminisce

Harry, you really bring memories of sandlot baseball flooding back. YOU PUT US THERE: first as the two friends recruit you, then as you primp your bike, next on the field as the two captains choose up sides, and finally back home getting clean in the tub. I thoroughly enjoyed this and I think the voters will too. One error: Put my foot on the PEDAL. (I set the left PEDAL).

Hello HarryT a good day to you. I hope this review finds you well. As a poet/writer it is always interesting to see the different takes on these contest/writing prompts. I think your take is definitely a good one. Hopefully so will others, good job and good luck in the contest.
