Nice tribute to your wife. The repeated 'she smiled' shows where you want the focus of the poem to be - on her happy nature. Blessed are they that have a happy wife. That she could still smile when physically tired after a long day's work, and indeed work for someone else, says a lot.

Those who are pleased by the feel of dirt on their hands as the engage of replenishing the earth with plants. We were taken from the earth, so digging in the dirt with ungloved hand is like touching our ancestors. How cool is that?

This brought tears to my eyes. It was so intense. A great tribute to your wife. She reminded me of my late mother - always smiling, and having this winning attitude in life. She was a true gardener at heart.
