Short, simple, right to the point. Nothing wrong with that. Technically, it looks good. I don't see any errors in grammar, punctuation, etc. It's not a bad story, but there's nothing really there that stands out (not that there has to be, either).

In paragraph 1, there's a mistake in the last sentence, if you say without us not even knowing it, that means you did know. You could change it to with us not even knowing it.
