This post made me giggle since the heroine and I have the same name.. Prince Charming in an elephant mask dating the Cinderella of the supermarket checkout. What could be more romantic? Love the element of spoof that you bring to this modern fairytale.

I know what you mean by having a giggle when you see your own name in a story. I've seen the occasional 'Jenny' and checked to see what the writer has in store for her.

This is a delightful and humorous short romance story. The line, "white plate with artistic smears and tiny pieces of unidentified food on it," reminded me of a similar date I had many years ago. The unidentified food was three tiny rolled up pieces of meat called lamb medallions placed on a green smear. Your story has great descriptions. Best wishes in the contest.

Giving a red rose to a date is a good way to get another date with his girl. I like the idea of the vegetable, bean, and the fruit, date, put into the sentences; it looks clever.

It's funny how people become suited to one another, there's always a connection when the two people are meant for one another, on thing that really puzzles me is how people fall "out of love" unless the the "love" was conditional, but then I fell in and fell out when young, beautifully written, blessings Roy
