Amen on your wishes for a unified, peaceful country where all get along!
Admire those truckers, standing their ground in the face of suppression by the government!
We live in a small (3,000) on a river in Wyoming, appreciate the changing seasons, but the winters can be long, dreary, and depressing.
This latest invasion in the Ukraine hurts our hearts.
Good work, irish

The lovely description of all th seasons in your poem is very uplifting. However there is an underlying message here. It is the same the world over and every government has its own faults.

I like the fact that, though it is winter, spring is on its way. Spring will bring peace and life again. You did a great job with this poem. Thank you for sharing.

Your free verse poem is very moving, expressive, and descriptive. We do tend to see parallels between the elements of the seasons and the state of
mankind, of our nations. Hatred and chaos run rampant in the U. S. too!
(Really, a comma is needed after "blow," since the next line continues the point.)

Oh, that was beautiful. I understand the sentiment - I lived in New York all my life, and now live in Florida, and miss my winters very much. Understand me correctly - I miss the snow, but don't miss shoveling the snow (lol). But your birch trees covered in snow caused another stab of nostalgia. Though having 85 degrees yesterday in West Palm Beach was a treat.

Beautiful metaphors, imagery and visuals.

This stanza was endearing:

I take comfort in the thought that when spring comes,
the trees will awake the snow will melt,
buds will appear, and turn to glistening, green leaves.

I wish I had a six for it. Consider it a virtual six. Best of luck in the contest.

Hello Laura, your poem is a poem that many people can/will relate to. Winter can be a dismal time when people are stuck in the house and watching more tv, more nerve-wrecking news.

I especially liked:
I take comfort in the thought that when spring comes,
the trees will awake the snow will melt,
buds will appear, and turn to glistening, green leaves.
(Soulful)

As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. I'm praying for our good neighbor, Canada, and the rest of
the restless world. LateBloomer

Basically, that is what we all want - to live our lives with peace and quiet. But, these past few years have challenged all of our hopes and desires for peace and unity. Hopefully with the change of weather - the moods of people will also change for the better. We need to see what spring symbolizes - new beginnings!

I enjoyed reading your poem. The rhymes work well and the pace is just right. The message is a strong one and hopefully others will feel the same. I love the photo is that a view from your window?
