This sixty-word flash fiction story, Sighs of a Southpaw, has the required word count and reminds me that my wife is a "wrongy" as well. Whenever I see her do things it makes my head hurt. Just kidding, of course.

Being left-handed allows them to adjust to seeing underwater faster than their right-handed peers. Scientists aren't sure why this is a left-handed aspect, but they feel it has something to do with the different way a left-hander thinks compared to right-handers.

Yay lefties! I am one myself. Thank heavens we can use computers these days and can stop scratching around with a splatty pen. I think there are more and more lefties these days because times have changed and kids are not beaten for being left-handed like my mother's generation was. But you are correct - as we are in the minority we do have to adjust ourselves.

Rules ask for a complete story, i.e. something with a plot, characters and a beginning, a middle and end. I'm not seeing that here, but good luck in the contest.

Thanks for your review. I think you'll find that the story has an unnamed character, a beginning and middle where he fights against society over his left handednes and an ending where he is resigned to his situation.

Ah, I seems to be all about one's point of view and if a person will compromise who they see themselves as in order to live within a crowded and complex system created and enforced by majority agreement.
Very interesting post.

Good job. Lefties are unique individuals something to be celebrated. However, at times they are forced to deny their uniqueness to satisfy the mold they are forced into.

Just love this take on the whole idea of being a 'leftie' and not in the usual sense of political - yes - the men in our family seem to have followed this trend ! thanks for sharing

Thanks for your review. From personal experience I can tell you the world is not made for lefties.
