Sorry to have missed this one earlier. Outstanding poem and a wonderful question as we look upon the Earth today. Truth is not subjective, nor is it altered, although the wicked try. That is why I like irrefutable DNA evidence: there is nothing more to be said. Blood doesn't lie.

Nor does the Son of God or the Word of God--a truth that never changes. Numbers 23:19~ God is not a man that He should lie....

The rest of the fallen world is up for grabs.

Jesus said, "I am the way, I am the truth... I am the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

It's pretty clear where truth is found. I seek it out daily.

Sending you my best for this marvelous poem,
Sal XOs...

Very wise words, my friend! :) I believe we are driven to seek truth. Instead of seeing everything around us that God has created, we want more evidence to believe He exists. When will it be enough? But then, we believe known lying politicians who consistently show their true nature, but most will take his words if offered false promises. Sadly, we are a greedy nation. I will continue to pray for better days.

Thank you for sharing.
Always your fan,
Shana :)

Dear Roy,
This was a good poem. I felt the stanza about the salmon was unnecessary, otherwise, it was fine. I personally prefer the truth.
Blessings,
Darlene

I wholeheartedly agree with you that many would prefer the lie to the truth - simply because an empty promise is one that offers instant gratification - whereas the truth might mean waiting a little longer for guaranteed results. Eve fell for it..and Adam as well. You have penned some words of wisdom here.

Alas, we are living in a "Twilight Zone" of "alternative facts"--- and society has taken A unique view. Do not teach the truth of our past, less it make others uncomfortable...
How then, do we learn? Has it not been said
by
(George Santayana) That "those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it?"

The truth ought never be bent to win votes...

We have faithful seeking the light...

We have Qanon followers gathering in Dallas waiting for Kennedy to return...

We're on a slippery slope!

Karenina

As someone who finds Truth of overwhelming importance and follows it to that place in which it and Love become synonymous and indistinguishable and all words disappear, I enjoyed your first, third, fifth, and eighth stanzas particularly. I suspect few follow Truth as far as it leads, to its ultimate unvarnished conclusion, which inspires awe, humility, and intense gratitude. If more did so, there would be a lot less conversation and a lot more exchanging of smiles and knowing nods in this life. When being scrupulously honest, I remember to take with a huge grain of salt any reported history or experience I wasn't part of or wasn't directly shown, inwardly or outwardly. It's very freeing not to believe too many unnecessary things! Best of wishes on your own journey toward Truth, the Absolute, the Deathless, the indescribable. And I enjoyed your rhymes.

-You always find such great artwork, Roy.
-I have one six star left, and I am happy
to award it to you for this poem.
-I appreciate your notes, too.
-A very good opening verse that sets the tone.
-Effective imagery and rhyme, like
"Our politicians spin and ring,
they seem to dance a flagrant fling."
-I also like the inclusion of nature
toward the end of the poem.
-A good concluding verse, too!
-Very well done.

Loved this poem. Great rhyme and rhythm. I also loved how you're championing absolute truth. However, I didn't quite see how the stanza referring to salmon and birds fit into the whole story. Maybe you could clarify the connection a bit better.
